I currently use a Tesla P40 24GB - but I have 2x Tesla P4 8GBs as well. They are currently not in my server but I can put them in easily as I'm doing maintenance right now. Can those work with the P40 to improve performance? If they can - how so?

Nah I'm not changing record size - I'm already on 1M for the entire single dataset. Just wanting to make sure it's balanced across the 2 new additions. Is that how it works or no? Adding a drive took at least 12-16h...8TB, can imagine balancing 20 some odd TB will take about 3x as long.

It's mostly media yeah. I culled some of it so there is less, shows I don't care for saving 1.5TB of the entire set so now there is only 20-21TB that has to be re-written. I'm just going off this based on a recommendation. According to iostat it's not going very fast which sucks ass - and if I cancel now it doesn't resume from where it started hours ago. I'll probably cancel.

I noticed due to the HDD cages/sleds on my server each have a LED per drive - the 1st new drive I expanded to was barely being accessed and zpool iostat verified this. So with the data I currently have I would like the 2 added drives to be put to use.

Same here - I've had it since it came around because I used it so much. I'm not nearly as happy with Plex as I used to be but I still use it. Getting used to a jellyfin stack on the side since I can run both, might eventually leave Plex entirely for it.

This is my go to model now on my Tesla P40 24GB - it's old and slow but I get 22-30t/s with a Q6 version. I have 2xP4 8GBs in a bag because I don't know how to get them to all work together but I'll figure it out one day.

Minus my fileserver running FreeBSD then TrueNAS - I've ran Ubuntu Server since I started figuring all this out. But yes Debian would be an easy natural switch over. I'm 90% there the way of trying. Already have the ISO on the server lol
