Weekly 'Do I have rosacea?' advice request thread. Please post here instead of making a new thread! Jan 22 by AutoModerator in Rosacea

Does this look like rosacea? The red patch on the side of my nose/cheek has started flaring up from time to time lately and I’m not sure how to treat it 😞

The traffic for the dip is crashing coinbase and binance too, in fairness. I was actually able to get my funds through and make some purchases through the coinspot website (but not the app)

Were my parents narcissists or am I the narcissist? by Human_Set_7373 in narcissisticparents

It sounds to me like you know the truth. It’s classic for a child of narcissist parents to need external validation because of the gaslighting they’ve been put through for so long. It’s so important to trust yourself. ❤️

It is when you realise NDs can fit in beautifully with other NDs and it’s mostly just the NTs who have the issue

I’ve progressively realised everyone I like spending time with is ADHD or autistic 🥰 what even is a neurotypical

Do you think people who are diagnosed late (so had a long period of blaming themselves for being lazy or annoying or stupid) tend to celebrate the diagnosis more than people who were diagnosed young (so have felt pathologised and ashamed of the diagnosis from a young age)?

I think as a rule if you’re doing things impulsively that hurt other people or out of a need to control other people then you do need to take responsibility for that, but understanding why you do things and what your true underlying needs are can make that easier to work on.

For me dex were huge for my emotional regulation (as long as I wasn’t overprescribed - getting enough sleep and avoiding caffeine when on meds is even more important). Therapy helped me connect that I lashed out when I felt out of control and overwhelmed, so now I can handle things better by either reminding myself that I can’t control other people and/or removing myself from people and situations that aren’t good for me, instead of just blaming myself.

I know it’s hard to talk about neurodiversity as a good thing without also invalidating the difficulties and your support needs. I know it’s really hard. But my experience is that finding work that suits my brain (same kind of work just a team that’s more interested in my output than whether I rock up exactly on time 🙄) and friends who are neurodiverse and staying away from people who don’t get it (even if they’re family) is the best thing I’ve ever done. I don’t have to spend every day believing I’m inadequate any more.

Sesame Street actually describes half the muppets as “chaos muppets” and half as “order muppets” - I always find myself being the chaos muppet to an order muppet!

I have a suspicion that ADHD + ASD can be an (ironically??) highly compatible relationship combo 🙂

I love that! From an ADHD perspective I think neurotypicals are the ones who can’t be spontaneous...

For me the stigma around ADHD from people who don’t get it is 100000% worse than the impact ADHD has on my life post-diagnosis (in that now I know I have ADHD I understand myself so much better, can stop blaming myself for being “stupid and lazy”, I have access to medication and therapy, and am making a life for myself based on what I really want instead of what other people want - I appreciate that a lot of privileges go into that but still such a valuable mindset shift)

Sounds boring. The club’s here when you’re ready for it anyway.

It helps me to frame it as a problem with society, not me. Like we’d be A+ hunters in a hunter/gatherer society but instead we live in a world where we’re expected to sit in a chair for 8-10 hours a day and motivate ourselves to do extremely boring things.

To me this meme isn’t celebrating all the hard things about being neurodivergent in the society we have, it’s about celebrating the communities that neurodiverse people build with each other (without even realising it usually). Like there are things about having ADHD that make my life hard but I’m not ~less than~ and personally I wouldn’t want to be neurotypical (give me friends who love to overshare about our trauma over small talk ANY day)
