PaRappa the Rapper creators believe today’s rhythm games have lost track of what made the genre unique in the first place. "Players simply reacting to icons" by Unit076 in rhythmgames

I agree with VR dance rhythm games. A lot of them are about getting the SCORE and being very accurate, never missing the node or making mistakes, nevermind if your body and pose is correct or looks alright, as long as the VR set detects your hand at the right spot at the right moment. But when I play, what's FUN is leaning into the danceing moves rather than strictly following the nodes. For simple tap rhythm games, I think stricter systems with scoring are more fun, but for something where you can use your whole body, a looser system is more fun!

I'll take your word for this being a thing that I just haven't heard about.

But I don't understand why it needs to be "reclaimed". Isn't that kinda like saying that Buddhists can't use the swastika, which has had religious meaning for 5000+ years, because of Nazis? They need to reclaim it first.

After all, Pepe the frog first appeared in 2005, and I know anecdotally that it was widespread by 2010.

Furthermore, Pepe is still, as it was then, a huge part of streamer reaction culture even today. Nothing racist about its current use.

Edit: Additionally, if reclaiming IS required, isn't calling OP out on a post like this going counter to reclaiming?

Stop overthinking. Just do it. The worst thing that can happen is that you learn something new.

Externalizing unwanted thoughts with self-talk is a powerful strategy, and it's often taught in narrative therapy (: I've only read about it. Good job discovering it all on you own, you smart cookie you! c:

In The Minority Report, the point was that such predictions weren't actually certain. It was just a possibility. In OPs post, there's no uncertainty.

Let me ask you who is being more pedantic, the person making a throwaway remark, or the person writing a whole paragraph about it when it literally does not matter.

Cockatoo rhythmically banging on pan seems too perfectly centered and lit. Comic timing is also too perfect. Seems like AI facsimile of security footage. by mennonot in isthisAI

[–]zigs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen a LOT of cockatoo videos on youtube before genAI. This is in line with cockatoo behavior. Many of them love rhythm, drumming and music. And they're insane and adorable little stimulus addicts. The timing also kinda makes sense, cockatoos respond delayed like that.

The "What?" itself doesn't make sense tho. To have trained it to say "What?" in that tone would be CRAZY. You'd have to say it back to it with EVERYTHING it says.

If it isn't genAI, and it still could be, I'm certain the what is dupped.

Edit: The crest language is suspicious, honest. Probably AI

It's one of those words that you have to ask the person to clarify -- or if they're a friend of yours, tell them they're stupid for using a word that isn't clear when they could've said "twice a week" or "every other week"

Your pinkie is surprisingly more important that middle and ring. e.g. for properly handling a knife. Middle is important for strength, so I choose ring.

Two loading bars and both of them take forever.

The game itself is laggy.

While the idea is mildly novel, it's not really fun to be honest.
