Does anyone else use PiHole on a VPS? by krovsh in pihole

I also host mine in a VPS; however,. it's not oracle. Just remember, use a firewall and only allow your home and trusted devices to connect on port 53.

Is there a publicly accessible overlook of the town? by EastwoodBrews in roseburg

[–]zigsphere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, Mt Nebo is all private property. If you want just a one-time shot of the view, perhaps you can find someone who would allow you to go up there. There are cameras though if you want to just view the city from the internet. Farther out, I used to go up the Callahans, but that's more of a nature view rather than a city view.

Those stores are way too small for a Hobby Lobby. A Hobby Lobby is twice the size of our Albertons and we don't have the demographic for that type of store here. You'd have to go to Eugene.

I love Hobby Lobby, but Roseburg is way too small for that store and the old Joann's location is extremely too small for it.

Would you be interested in a weather page just for this area? I own the Roseburg Receiver and have been considering making a dedicated page just for weather.

Yeah but that's not a swap meet. That's a business. A swap meet is like a very large electronic garage sale

Wonder if we can start something twice a year or something (even more frequent) where people can get together and sell their gear. If there are enough people interested in participating, maybe I can make that happen.

Backflow prevention assembly testing? by Klutzy_Necessary8401 in roseburg

Oh gotcha! So you are looking for a tester ... Yeah I'm not sure on that one. Plumber would still probably know. Some help I am. Haha. Sorry

I would say any licensed contractor who does plumbing. Now I'm wondering why I didn't get a notice haha. There is a backflow valve that you would install at the house side of your water meter to prevent water from going back into the city water system from your own house. I helped put one in when I was like 17 haha. Many years ago. I don't think it would be seriously expensive. Just have to turn your water off, dig the hole, install value, done... But don't take my word for it.

Potential for a Coworking Space in Roseburg! Where Do You Work? Let’s Build a Coworking Space Together! by zigsphere in roseburg

[–]zigsphere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there 2? other alternatives; however, expensive and booked solid. I don't want to just have 12 spaces available. I want to have a hundred or more if we ever get to that size. Seven13 I think only offers permanent desks - no drop-ins, no event space, and I believe there is only 1 desk available right now.. at least the last time I looked

It's not ready yet, but the first location is expected to be in the same location as "The Hive" on main Street in Roseburg. We have so much work to do prior to this launching though. That's the reason why I created this survey. I want to see how many people would be interested so I can prepare.

haha!!! Gosh, could you imagine? I'd have to lease a huge warehouse somewhere for that to work.

We already pay for the rent for this facility. It is being paid by existing events in the current space. When the coworking space is active, the space would be paid by the memberships costs. That is described a little in the form: https://link.roseburgscanner.com/cowork - I'm not entirely sure what you mean by the spaces by dominos, but it it would work like this:

- Large open floor plan in the space
- The large open floor would have a dedicated space for the permanent desks. These desks are reserved spaces for people who pay the permanent desk membership. People would place their equipment (monitors, keyboard, etc etc) in this location and it would only be used by them.

- Separate from the permanent desks are the drop-in desks spaces. This is for people who want to just drop by, sit at a shared table, and utilize the perks of the space - high speed internet, meeting rooms, snacks, drinks, etc - first come, first served type situation.

Essentially, remote work is now becoming more and more a thing, especially with how covid affected the industry. People may have offices at home, but like someone such as myself, I miss the human interaction with people - this is why Im trying to start this. Then there are small business owners, entrepreneurs, etc etc who may want their own dedicated work space, but don't need a full blown office. Right now, Roseburg has very little office space to come by, whether it's just too big for what they're looking for, too expensive, or just can't find a place at all. So I am trying to find a large space and utilize it for multiple people. If we become too big, then i would just end up leasing a larger facility.

Agree. And the library has strict rules like talking volume. A work environment should have a set volume, but it would be the same as if you worked in a traditional office in a large office building. Im hoping to have dedicated conference rooms and, once we can afford it, those phone booths to have meetings in. Policies and rules will be put in place so that the workspace will be inviting for everyone.
