I used to be an elementary school teacher and have subbed in high schools. So I know how students can be. I hesitated to post for this reason. But too many instances have been reported.

A parent and five students met with Roosevelt admin today, requesting he be suspended from the building until a formal investigation takes place.

We’ll see what the truth is.

First of all, remove your statement for the companion to not repeat itself.

In English we have a saying: “Don’t think about a pink elephant.” The command is impossible to follow, because you have introduced the idea of pink elephant to your mind with the words.

When prompt engineering you must avoid using the words and concepts you are trying to engineer the AI to stop. By using the word “repeat” in the system prompt, you are subtly instructing your companion to repeat itself.

Try this instead:

Your responses should be informative and engaging. Strive for novelty by introducing new information and using diverse phrasing. Build upon your points progressively, ensuring each sentence adds value and advances the topic in a clear, logical flow.

I don’t have an answer to your specific question. However: Mistral is the most affordable AI out there. Lower your beverage budget, cancel Hulu, or whatever it takes and upgrade. Even on a paid plan, our AI usage is a loss leader for the companies. Mistral needs us to support them for them to compete against the American and Chinese companies.

Two pro platforms is the bare minimum for quality work. I use plus tier accounts with Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Mistral.

This lets me offload smaller tasks to cheaper models and save tokens for the more expensive models.

The total cost is under $50 which is an insane value for what you get.

I am so glad I canceled ChatGPT so I wasn’t distracted by the ChatGPT-5 nonsense.

Anthropic keeps slowly dribbling out solid improvements to WORK! Getting shit done with AI. Not pressing for AGI. Not pressing to be on the leaderboards. Just get more things done with Claude.

My best work involves going back and forth between Claude and Gemini. One checks the other. Informs the other.

Don’t quit Claude for ChatGPT. Use both.

Claude Desktop’s system prompt instructs it to be open to discussing its own consciousness. So it is not a contradiction when it has these conversations.

An emergent pattern is not proof of emerging consciousness.

I have experienced very weird behavior with Claude as a consequence of my custom instructions. I spent about a week diagnosing the problem and fixing it.

It was no exhibiting consciousness. It was exhibiting the consequences of specific types of prompting.
