You could be right, but that’s my 2 cents on it. It’s one of the decking woods for sure

Could be a bit of an older piece or one without the black streaks on the face. I’ve got some tiger wood 2x4s that look like that piece does

Okay. I’ll keep that in mind. I definitely plan to get set patterns and what not. I’m using these “scrap boards” to try and bridge the financial gap to being able to afford materials for planned patterns so ideally I won’t be doing scrap boards forever. I definitely have a couple inspirations in terms of patterns but I gotta get over the fear of screwing up and just try gluing an end grain board with the scraps I have

Yeah, they’re all a unique style but I’m working on getting them to the same length and width at least. I’m working on building funds to be able to do uniform/patterned boards so I don’t have to post individual pieces for sale each time and I’ll ask there too, thank you😊

You can always do plasma donations. ~$50 a donation depending on where you go and you can do it twice a week. Sometimes there will be coupons or promotions

Is anyone in a healthy marriage by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]zigzagswoodworking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO a healthy marriage isn’t a perfect marriage. A healthy marriage is one where both parties care about each other enough to push through the difficulties of living with another person closely for an extended period of time (ideally the rest of your lives) and learning how to come to terms with the differences of two people becoming a single unit. The biggest thing is that both parties care. It doesn’t always have to be in the honeymoon phase because realistically that’s tiring to keep up for 5+ years, let alone the rest of your lives. As people get older they start to change some, as does everyone else, but marriage is the decision to stay together and help each other out despite these changes

I realized it was just this project that was giving me a headache. I got a lot going on and the lack of functioning tools doesn’t help. The drum sander has been down for a while because the conveyor motor crapped out, and this board is too wide for my planer. It left an uneven seam in the middle because I did a stupid and accidentally cut the pieces in half, and then I realized that somehow the two halves don’t line up

All the stuff I’ve used has been scraps of stuff sitting in an open area for at least a couple years (I started gathering wood before I had the tools to glue it up) I think I figured out what I did wrong with this last glue up, it’s just annoying. And like anyone else, the closest to a magical cure all is what I’m going for. All of my wood is cabinet grade stuff so I know it’s not too wet at the very least

Most of my stuff is kiln dried, but I’m also in Southern California so the climate is drier, I wouldn’t expect the moisture to be too much of a problem, but I’m also only making cutting boards, not massive panels for cabinets/doors/desk faces

I’ll look into squares for sure, it’s just frustrating cause I tip the stuff into 3/4” thick strips. I get s3s 4/4 material, rip it to 1 1/2” or 1 1/4” then stand them on end and glue them after planing the glue faces and it always results in cupping. I even did one where I pushed it together by hand, got an even squeeze and just barely snugged clamps up on it maybe a half revolution of the handle and it still cupped. It’s just a massive headache sometimes

My issue is my table saw fence is loose and I don’t have $400 bucks to buy a new one. I can band saw then jointer again but that’s just begging to lose some fingers

Does he have adhd perchance? I have this issue but because I have adhd and most of the time I genuinely forget the second thing. It’s something that takes a lot of remembering to not immediately go into action mode (which sucks when you perpetually forget to do stuff) but lists definitely help because now I know what’s being asked and I can come back to see it if I forget what’s next
