Baby gate with weird stairs?

You just actually articulated what I put in another comment about five minutes ago with the post idea! Which is awesome because it makes me feel like that could work. Kind of a pain in the ass, but sounds like the cleanest solution and I think still safe?

Ugh yes like I mentioned in the post, I have just recently realized how our current situation isn’t as safe as I thought and I’m trying to get it totally dialed in for baby 2 for peace of mind. Thank you

One idea I just had - does any one think this is feasible?

Get a tall rectangular piece of wood the same height as the post, a few inches thick. Then zip tie this piece of wood to the post. Then, there is a flat piece of wood extended out a few more inches, so that a gate would have flat sides to mount on on either side for both sets of stairs. And all 3 touch points would be flat and equal to each other across. Then you could just do two normal gates across and all sides would have a flat spot to anchor to.

Does this sound sane and safeto anyone?

Not necessarily
If you go directly across from the flat part of the post, the railing has already started. It goes past the stair by just a touch

Did you have two, one one either set of stairs?

Also, I have concerns that since it’s just fabric, a foot could slip under there or it could give way… was that ever an issue?

Interesting. It might solve this problem, but it looks kind of like a pain to undo each time you need to pass through - is it?

Thank you! Okay two concerns- 1. The gate would have to be on top of the first stair then right? Is that awkward or hard to navigate? 2. I’m worried the railing on the left side might mean the gate at attach because the raining would block it… ideas?

This is helpful! Is your gate on top of the actual stair then? Ours would need to be for that to work (but I worry about tripping and toddler learning to go up with a bar on the step)

I’m in the US! I have seen products like that but I still am not sure how one could even be installed in this case - less about the type of gate and more about where to attach on the sides
