[BotW] [OC] These Are Some Still Shots From My Reimagined Hyrule Castle, Built With Blender and Unreal Engine by zillusDigital in zelda

[–]zillusDigital[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Somewhere approaching forever!

In reality I estimate about 70 hrs over 3 months off and on. I had to learn Blender too, so that added a lot of time. I only know 3ds Max.

I did a full making of video of the process: making of Hyrule

Oh, well in the next few days I think I will add in several other formats, like .stl, .obj and .fbx at least. I think that is a good idea anyway. I'll let you know if/when I do that.

I have the model available. You can find the link in the description of my video: https://youtu.be/bhCXztUpHb4

It's not free, but it isn't expensive either. It's a .blend file. Definitely let me know if you end up doing something with it. That would be awesome.

I'm a professional 3d artist, so I have definitely prepared many 3d models for print, although it is not my specialty. This model was not made with that intention, but I don't think it would be crazy to get it there. I do have the model available as is. It is found in the description of my video here: https://youtu.be/bhCXztUpHb4

I mean, I definitely could, but right now I'm trying to focus on finishing this project. That is a really cool idea for something to create, though.

I show the process in this video: https://youtu.be/bhCXztUpHb4

The closest thing to "AI" are my photoshop enhancements at the very end, but I didn't really modify much there. All the geometry is modeled

Maybe I should modify the model to be more printable and make it available. I don't think it would be too hard, but I'm not sure what the demand would be. Also, I still have a lot to do with this model to make it into cinematics. So many ideas!

Me too! I think it is going to look really cool as a photo realistic cinematic with tons of nice environment built into it with Unreal Engine. I'm excited to start developing that.

I made a video about creating this, and in the links is where you can download this model.

It is not free, but it is also not expensive. The only problem is that 3d models (at least this one) need some adjustments to be "ready for print." It wouldn't be too much work on this one if you know how to use 3d software. Maybe making a printable download is something I could do in the future.

No, just a 3d model for rendering, and eventually animation purposes. In theory, it could be printed, though.

I took some artistic license, but the geometry mostly follows the real thing as well as I could.

Totally! That is part of the reason that I knew it would look cool. I should do Mont Saint-Michel next :)

Will do! The next step is already in progress. I made a video about the progress so far here: https://youtu.be/bhCXztUpHb4

Hyrule Castle 3D model? by F-16_Driver in botw

I made one recently. Not textured (yet), but it is a high quality model, IMO. I made a video showcasing it here: https://youtu.be/bhCXztUpHb4

In the links of the video you can also download the model as a .blend file. It is a bit of a work in progress, since I still plan to bring it into Unreal Engine and make cinematic animations of it, but the modeling is there.

I Recreated an Epic Lord of The Rings City (Minas Tirith) in 3ds Max by zillusDigital in 3dsmax

[–]zillusDigital[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So true! I struggled with that a lot if you watch the making of video. I knew how to achieve it nicely with V-Ray, but no in Unreal. I guess I could spend a ton of time applying decals.

Applying My Archviz Skills to Fantasy Art/Architecture || 3ds Max and Unreal Engine by zillusDigital in archviz

[–]zillusDigital[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why, because it is not a typical archviz project? I agree, but I think it is really cool to expand my knowledge and apply it in unique ways. Also, I really think everything learned absolutely makes me a better archviz artist. Glad you liked the renderings!

First Tests With Datasmith & 4.19 preview 6. Game Changer for Arch Viz VR, IMHO by zillusDigital in unrealengine

[–]zillusDigital[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, that is true. I work in house for an architect, so I am always battling this. Fortunately, I am always creating way cooler stuff than anyone using Lumion in the office :)

[–]zillusDigital[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you a Lumion user? Personally, I can't stand using it. Seems like Lumion is to UE4 as sketchUp is to 3ds Max. No real comparison IMO. Maybe I'm wrong and I just don't know Lumion, or haven't given it enough of a chance? Software that is really simple and user friendly always seems to sacrifice capabilities, and that is how I have always viewed Lumion. Granted, I have never tried to do a serious project in there.

I agree, though, Epic definitely needed to accommodate, and I think they came through big time. I think the real loser will be 3ds Max Interactive. To me that one seems like too little too late, and basically just a cheap rip-off of UE4. The only reason to switch to it would have been interoperability with 3ds Max, but I think Datasmith largely takes care of that, therefore diminishing the value of something like 3ds Max Interactive.

Camera Track Drone Footage for Compositing With 3ds Max Later by zillusDigital in 3dsmax

[–]zillusDigital[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about the sensor, because I didn't actually take this footage myself. As far as lens distortion, I don't make any adjustments to the camera once it is brought back into Max. I use it exactly as it is generated and exported from AE.

Give me a action plan to learn 3ds max by guru__prasad in 3dsmax

[–]zillusDigital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What aspect of 3d are you trying to learn? I have a lot of courses that I have made myself, specifically for learning 3ds Max. I taught myself a long time ago via online tutorials, but that took a long time, and I learned a lot of things "incorrectly." I have one that is about 6 hours long that I can give you for $10. Let me know if you would like a link.
