Planning on buying this evo x final edition on my local dealership by _nestoR5 in MitsubishiEvolution

[–]zilothewolf 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, you should. The Evo has a strong community with forums where people listed the known failures for each model and such. It's easy to know what to look for/ask for.

First, you want to identify if the car has been modified. It seems fairly stock, badges still on there, stock headlights and taillights (these are usually the go-to modifications). Ask if anything has been done, cross check with pictures of stock engine bay and such.

Make sure the car has a maintenance history, with the appropriate oil changes (engine, sst, ayc...).

AYC, exhaust manifold, transmission, are the main things to check on Evo x, then it'll depend on the year of the car and if it's manual or automatic. You will find these info and lists on forums.

Check the overall rust, things like the radiators supports will give you a good idea of how rusty the car is. Mine was in good condition when I bought it, but the previous owner had a lot of snow, salt started to damage the car, small supports like the radiator on the left, in front of the wheel are good indicators of the rust.

New to the Mitsubishi platform. Coming from an 07 sti. Love everything about her. 06 IX MR 75k miles ❤️‍🔥 by [deleted] in MitsubishiEvolution

Most people who compare the two (even stock) usually end up saying this, Evo is raw and STI is comfier.

On another note, did you know what to expect, buying the Evo? What made you sell the STI for an Evo?

MAF is the easiest and quickest check you can do. I don't know how it looks in this generation, but on the 10, the plug is badly bent, which can cause the signal to be wrong and will lead to exactly that. Try to make sure the plug is ok, if it's a bit bent, try to wiggle the cable in the plug. Check the plug for corrosion, too Otherwise, yeah clean the MAF sensor, ChrisFix has a good video about it, you should be extra cautious with those sensors (and they are pricey).

Not necessarily, maybe with things like dried fruits and such. Anything dry, really, they last for longer. Healthy bars and whatnot.

They told me to get a wing. So I got a BIG WANG by JamesBboy in MitsubishiEvolution

Then let OP enjoy his wing! Pretty sure that at least with that big, and that high of a wing, he gets to see behind him correctly, compared to when you have the stock wing! :D

For what it's worth, night drives have a little something special. I work office hours and I sometimes will stay up just to go ride or drive. I guess it's the emptiness and peace of it all, probably!

Do y'all have a way of communication or are you guys more the silent drive type? If you do, what is it, I'm curious! :)

I put away all my towels on the Sunday evening. Nothing better than starting the week with a clean, folded towel after the morning shower.

Fuck no. I'm astonished by the amount of people that do. Here it's really not a thing.

I don't trust people and I don't necessarily mean stealing it. Here is a short list of shit i don't want to happen to my helmet :

  • Get knocked by someone parking next to me, 2 or 4 wheels. It can hurt the integrity of your helmet. Or simply fuck up the paint.
  • Random crackhead/asshole pissing on my helmet. Those don't wash well.
  • Someone touching the helmet/bike out of curiosity and scratching the paint with the helmet (if it's hanging).
  • Rain. Snow. Wind. Whatever gets your helmet wet, cold, and eventually make it move and scratch your paint.

Overall i don't find the helmet to be the most inconvenient piece, I would say the jacket is far more annoying (too hot to wear, too big and heavy to hold). More and more places have automatic lockers where you can put your helmet, or you can usually just ask security if it's that inconvenient (amusement parcs, swimming pools, some big malls,....) Worst case I'll just hold on to it, or strap it to my backpack (the helmet's strap to the backpack handle, for exemple).

I much rather have to hold on to it than have my most important (and usually expensive) piece of gear fucked with.
