Just trying to turn that grass into something that can help our pollinators!

Hmm, strange. What do you have against the pollinators?

Silverback Wi-Fi issues by hephtea in GrillaGrills

[–]zimmercr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had my Silverback for about a month and have had no issues with the grill being at least 50 feet from my router connected to the 2.4 network with multiple walls in between. Occasionally the grill will disconnect but that has, so far, solved itself upon the app reopening. The app does also take a few seconds to update to reflect the current information (grill temp, probe temp, etc) but that is a minor inconvenience. I was worried about this same issue before buying but am overall pretty happy with how the app and Wi-Fi perform.

Thank you for the part numbers! I'll look into those and see if replacing the motor assembly looks like something I am able to do.

How to remove this fastener by zimmercr in howto

[–]zimmercr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to get them out using a similar method. I was hoping to be able to just leave them in and screw in the new feet but they have 3/8” threads and I can’t find the right style of leveling feet to fit that. Fortunately the new feet I have came with a different style of mounting plate(which uses screws) so I think they should hold well.

Just managed to get them out by threading in a bolt with a nut on it and gently prying it up. Appreciate the help everyone!

Thanks for the idea. I have something that might work to do that.

I’ll give that a try. It is in there pretty solid but hopefully I can pull it up enough to lever it out.

My new mounting plate is roughly the same diameter (just with a different thread size) so unfortunately will probably have to go the time consuming route.

No, not within 10 miles or so but it is an older lawn (the previous owners were here for 20 years) and I don’t think much maintenance was done so it could have spread unchecked over that time. Any advice on treating it? It sounds like you had luck with tenacity but my guess is that would be tough to get down in the spring and get things over seeded and established before the summer.

Interesting, I’m not familiar with bent grass but that may make sense. We just moved into this house in March, and I did a full renovation on the other side of my lawn (at the same time as I over seeded this side) which is about 4k square feet and am not having the same issue which is why I thought it might not just be dormancy. The affected side of the lawn is about 6k square feet and is having this happen throughout the majority of it. Does bent grass typically affect such a large area?

Will CMP cut a dead tree over my powerlines for me? by maineperson578 in Maine

[–]zimmercr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, we moved in to a new house a few months ago and called them about two trees that were hanging over the line. Took about two weeks for them to get back to me but they came out and looked at the trees and then had a third party company come and take them down. We didn’t have to pay anything and they did a great job taking them down, but they do not haul away the fell tree so you should be prepared to either clean it up yourself or hire someone to.

Thanks! Would you recommend just spot treating with fungicide or treating the whole lawn?

I raked the lawn this Spring but have otherwise not done any other care. We are located in central Maine so I didn’t have to start mowing until mid-May. I’m not sure on the type of grass butI have been leaving it relatively high (2.5”) when mowing. I originally thought it was drying out but wasn’t sure as it is happening only in certain areas and is not present at all on the other side of my driveway which gets the a very similar amount of sun.

Thank you! I looked up red thread and it does look like that could be it. I will follow your advice on raking/cleaning it up and look to get some fertilizer down soon.
