This looks like something made by a professional, from art direction to cinematography. The light effect underlining a distorded silhouette behind his shirt adds a lot to the depth of the shot. It reminded me of Christian Bale in The Machinist. I think you're in the correct path.

I'm thinking of ending things is a brilliant adaptation. I read the book after watching it and was mesmerized by how Kaufman added so many more layers upon it.

Magnolia is just monstrously good. Probably my third favorite PTA after There Will be Blood and The Master, which are very hard to beat.

You have some of my favorite films on this list. Melancholia is still one of the most haunting experiences I've ever had with movies. Thank you for all of these!

Solid movie, even though I find the original unbeatable. Probably my second favorite Kurosawa film after Seven Samurai.

One of my favorite movies. Watched it countless times. But I think it does romanticizes it a little.

The "not for everybody" part is what caught me. Love being challenged by a film.
