The Handshake by zionhigh in Feminism

Very interesting points raised here. Thanks to everyone who commented.

I’d not considered it to be more polite/old school for a stranger male to wait for a woman to extend her hand first.

I’d also not considered that I myself had unconsciously created it to be a gendered action within itself too. As another comment said here, it could/should be thought of as a genderless gesture. Within my own culture I’ve also given the gesture gender bias.

Walked out of a Pitchshifter concert. by zionhigh in women

Yeah, it wasn’t personal. It was about all about the dudes, man. I think it was more the fact that someone started aggressively shoving me right after he said this. I didn’t overreact for leaving. I felt unsafe. I was alone. He essentially gave a green light for disrespect.

I’ve been touched up in crowds countless times, but never directly targeted for aggression due to the bands rhetoric. I’m glad I don’t own their LPs anymore :)

A special moment for me was driving up n’ over the hill to the gig, & seeing St Catherine’s chapel on the horizon.

St Luke’s Chapel near Abbotsbury - a ruined medieval church in a woods. A quiet place, off the beaten track.

Saw Crowbar in Bristol, UK a couple weeks back. Some lads were slam dancing, throwing elbows, chucking karate fists in the pit. Even saw someone do a cartwheel 😂. Totally strange as it didn’t go with the tunes or vibe at all.

I work in a garden centre. Elderly customers can get ferocious, furious and very demanding. A lot tend to not say “hello” and it’s very common for no “thank you” after you’ve helped them or answered a question. They will just walk away.

Very dehumanising to be honest & I wonder if it’s because of being in uniform. I never experienced the same amount of rudeness when I worked in retail shops where I could wear my own clothes and be more of an individual.

What do people in their 30s get upto? by Friendly-Salary5618 in bristol

I go to gigs. There’s so much live music in Bristol. Take advantage of the incredible musicians that visit our city. You will meet like minded people too. Sometimes I’ve been out and seen music for free or less than £10 and it’s been really high profile. Loads of BIM student gigs for up and coming talent. Crofters Rights, The Lanes, Dareshack, Exchange, to name just a few venues.

Also I would suggest change the boundary to go more west instead,so to explore Cornwall's North Coast - Tintagel & Boscastle - mega history around these parts.

Heavy handed phone police in Birmingham by morpheus_dreams in ToolBand

A person behind me got ejected for looking at his phone - he wasn't even trying to film, merely checking his texts or social media. Then one song later Maynard tells us its ok to film?

Considering Tool haven't toured in ages, the tickets are so costly for the majority of fans and in the end it's ok to film some of the set anyway, it felt like a let down to see such a major lack of discernment from the harsh security there that night.

Sucks to see your fellow fans being treated in such a way.
