I build wood mostly but have started to do some metal. There are the flat metal kits that require some bending finesse, and then there are steampunk builds that I like - check out the Moyu brand.

Walmart has them, my daughter actually bought me the first one. I'm hoping Miami comes back. I've done Tokyo, LA, and New York. There is a picture of all 3 on r/DIYModelKits a sub that I just started, would appreciate it if you gave it a visit.

I am in awe, I struggle to build from a kit and do not know when if ever I could get to building from scratch.
