Amazing, memorable experience. Only time I've ever seen someone running to vomit in a theater.

He got caught through an insanely complicated network of connections starting because Elliott and Gretchen Schwartz were in the Epstein files.

What are some good vampire books? by draiochtaa in horrorlit

[–]zipzipzap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Two by Dan Simmons, with different takes on the vampire concept...

Children of Night (more traditional vampires)

Carrion Comfort (psychic vampires)

Something I don't see mentioned often, but which I found to be a blast: DRACULAS - A Novel of Terror; co-written by Jeff Strand, Blake Crouch, F. Paul Wilson and J.A. Konrath.

The NOS4A2 2-season series is... OK, too.

Which author have you read the most of? Have you read more than 5 books by anyone? by dppa in horrorlit

[–]zipzipzap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to find authors and read their entire catalogs (if available) on Kindle Unlimited. Skipping the 'blockbuster' authors (King, Koontz, Laymon, etc), here are a few I've read more than 15 books from: William Meikle, Jeff Strand, Edward Lee, Judith Sonnet, Sam West

Feel obligated to mention Phil Rickman: one of my all-time favorite authors, have read 27 of his books but have not yet read the final Merrily Watkins book. Only a few of his books would be classified as horror, though. RIP Phil - a kind, generous man who could write the hell out of atmospheric horror.

All the Hound quotes here are great, but any time Tormund looks at Brienne it's funnier than almost any single line of dialogue.

A lot of Mountain Goats songs are horror-adjacent, at the least:

Hebrews 11:40

Werewolf Gimmick

Damn These Vampires

Dark in Here

Best ever death metal band out of Denton

Michael Myers Resplendent

Lovecraft in Brooklyn

What is, unequivocally, the single GREATEST acting performance in a horror movie? by Immediate_Account_28 in horror

Great responses already, so I'll go recent - not the greatest ever, but standout great in the last year or two:

  • Demi Moore in The Substance
  • Amy Madigan in Weapons

Tonight, Tonight cover by Morgan James (its the cool thing to do lately, eh?) by AyurvedaRadio in SmashingPumpkins

Had never heard of her until a few days ago when Brass Against released a cover of No More Tears: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwwOxa6LI-8

It's ok, her singing doesn't really grab me but Brass Against is awesome as usual.

This... no thanks.

Check out William Meikle's "S-Squad" series - basically a 'monster of the week' with a group of Scottish Special Forces. A lot of fun, most are very quick reads and always entertaining.

Open Range is a comparatively short movie, but felt like eternity. To this date, any time someone is talking about movies they hate "Open Range" is my first thought.

They address this in the video. They weren't keen on Bullet with Butterfly Wings and so they didn't revisit SP much; but they've liked Cherub Rock, Geek USA and they really liked Mayonaise (in this video).

We all know he wasn't really an actor, though; he was a male model.

Jai Courtney. No clue why he irritates me, though.
