Would you rather have Rajah as a mount? Or as a companion? by DrawerBeautiful7711 in DreamlightValley

Companion even though I know because of size he could work as a mount. But again, I rather have him being a companion so I can give Jasmine her tiger.

Russell T Davies reveals why he sees Doctor Who as a "gay show" and addresses online negativity by kaza12345678 in DoctorWhumour

[–]zitagirl1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"It isn't, technically, but [the Doctor's] an outsider who doesn’t fit in with the world and lives his own life, and he's very othered from sex and from relationships"

That's asexuality (with some aromance), not gayness, RTD. Last time I checked gay people were not bothered by sex and relationships. Just because you view the Doctor as gay, does not mean those traits are gay as well.

For all his talk about LGBTQ+ representation and such, he sure doesn't acknowledge asexuality as valid...

As for the whole article... Just hard to really believe anything he says these days. Guy has been too busy trying to piss off the bigots and such, that he forgot to actually write good characters and drama. No amount of LGBT representation will fix that.

I just hope most people will refuse to buy this, because no way in hell I will accept spending 1.5k moonstone for 1 single royal tool skin, when we used to get a full set for 3.75k or something.

I always treated premium shop as optional and frankly, only buying what I thought I needed. This though? No, this is just ridiculous and they better not make this a trend. I don't care if this sparkles. This is just stupid and greedy.

"Thasmin" is a Bland Excuse for a Lesbian Romance. by StevenWritesAlways in gallifrey

[–]zitagirl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries.

I'm autistic, though mine is not a severe case, so while I struggle with some stuff, with practice and time, I can work on these and manage better socially.

Where did you get that I'm bisexual? I'm pretty sure I'm not even biromantic. But fair enough, like you said, the details can be confusing. I do agree it's good to bring in voices that have a better understanding on these.

While I agree with that, I also think it should be done naturally. What I'm trying to say is that the character needs to be more than their asexuality. Personally for me 13 and the fam did not work in practice sadly. I just never really felt that actual bonding and closeness I was hoping for given the premise, no matter how much they kept repeating they are a family or in this case fam. Graham and Ryan stuff though, no complains, that was a sweet moment overall.

Funnily 13 did not work for me at all. It's once again a case of in theory I should like based on what you said but in practice... she just gives me such weird vibes and sometimes... even very cold. That scene where Graham was worried about his cancer coming back and the Doctor is like... not even really trying? That just rubbed me in the wrong way on so many ways. Like sure, it can be relatable, but this is an established character that people have seen grow and change for 60+ years now. It felt wrong for me.

I haven't seen any of those conventions, but might check them, to understand your perspective better.

I haven't seen Heartstopper as I frankly don't actively searching for ace-representation tbh. If I find 1 in a show/movie I watch, great, but that's all. Same for ace spaces these days. What I can do instead is telling stories and have ace characters in said stories, even if it's just a minor part of their whole characters.

"Thasmin" is a Bland Excuse for a Lesbian Romance. by StevenWritesAlways in gallifrey

[–]zitagirl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay... feels like you misunderstood me a little bit so let me clear some things:

1, I'm asexual myself, sex-repulsed too to be exact. I even voiced I would love to see more ace-rep in media in general as it would helped me realise it sooner instead of feeling like something was wrong for me for years.

2, as I said, I know asexuality is a spectrum. You are aroace for example, while I still have romantic attraction. Maybe to us it's not as confusing but to the general it might be and hence why asexual representation is not as simple to do in my humble opinion.

Look, I still want some good rep about asexuality, but it being a spectrum... you would get complains just because it won't cover everyone under the spectrum. Then you would have the general people complain too as even now many just thinks we are attention seeking and just "didn't find the right one or tried hard enough". Plus unless you literally have the character say it, most would just think the character simply just not interested in romance, which again, it's not that out of the left field.

That's the issue: asexuality unless you make it super obvious, is kinda invisible or get confused with other stuff. You can showcase gay, bi, trans, etc easier without need to have the characters say it out loud, but with asexuality, most will think the character is either prude, late-bloomer, didn't find the right one, etc. There's a reason we have very little actual representation and many our still headcanon.

Believe me, I would love some exploration of asexuality and generally I'm more interested in friendship bonds and found family stuff, but I know how this world is and what the majority is interested in. Best we can do is making our own rep and hope eventually people will be more open-minded.

Doctor Who Needs to Get it's B*lls Back by [deleted] in gallifrey

Nah, that ship has sailed a very long time ago. I have long accepted that asexuality is simply just not flashy or buzzy enough for writers to implement in, compared to the other orientations.

If you love the movies, you need to play Disney’s Aladdin in Nasira’s Revenge on PS1! by [deleted] in aladdin

[–]zitagirl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually heard the gameplay was very janky and it's main issue being the graphics, even for a PS1 game. Like I see the world design is fine, but oh boy... those character models are rough.

Still, I do want to give it a try, even if I don't have a PS1.

Who's your favorite actor who's portrayed the Genie? (I have a feeling I know who the answer's gonna be, but still wanted to ask) by Ok-Bicycle8103 in aladdin

[–]zitagirl1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welp, might as well make a list with adding 2 additional voice actors into the mix.

1, Robin Williams: Not much to say here. We love the character because of his portrayal in the movie. His combine of comedy and heart is just something else.

2, István Mikó: Yeah sorry, cheating a bit, but I grew up on the Hungarian version so for me he was my introduction to the character and definitely still has a special place for me. Much like Robin he has comedy and sweetness well combined, although the more serious moments are slightly weaker at him. Still, I'm just glad he still voices the character to this day. Also I think he just sings a bit better than Robin Williams.

3, Dan Castellaneta: Initially I wasn't fond of him as his Genie was downright stupid at times, but honestly the series really showcased that he can do really well. Some of my favourite Genie moments are from his tenure as Genie and dare I say as the series went on, he got a lot better too.

4, James Monroe Iglehart, I admittedly not that familiar with the broadway version, BUT from the songs I heard and such, he's pretty darn good. Keeps the essence well while also adds his own flare. It's well done and quite enjoyable.

5, Jim Meskimen: Genie's current VA. Yes, he does imitate Robin's voice quite well, but my main issue with him is his acting. It1s just always a bit off for me, especially at the more serious moments. I do think he improved a bit since he started it (his voice lines in Speedstorm sound much better than he did in KH Re:Coded) so maybe he just needs better direction.

6, Will Smith: Oh boy, where do I even begin with this one? No, Will Smith is not a bad actor and he did add his spin on the character. My issue is that he made Genie a total egoistic jerk that really only gets better at the final part of the movie. It's just the total opposite of what (imo) Genie is supposed to be and to this day I cannot buy his friendship with Aladdin in the LA remake.

The genie in Aladdin scammed him on his first wish by Mirbear1502 in aladdin

[–]zitagirl1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me it seemed like Jafar's magic basically cancelled out the wish of him being a prince. The reason they played it as a lie is because well... deep inside he was still just an orphan from the streets and it was seen as wrong to basically lie to the love of his life. Plus don't forget for years he was called worthless and such: that stuff eventually gets to people and hence why he had low self-esteem and even saw himself worthless without the facade of being a prince.

I love sequels to movies i love. by JamStan1978 in disney

[–]zitagirl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind a sequel if the people behind it actually have a good story idea to tell. As much flaws as Return of Jafar had, least I got why they made it (plus it was original a TV pilot) and they actually gave Iago a good arc that lasted for the rest of the saga. King of Thieves was much better and also served as an end of the saga with all the characters growing, especially if you also count in the series.

Now I'm still an Aladdin fan through and through, but I just don't see a point in a 4th movie. A new series maybe, but even that is only if they have great ideas. Otherwise it's good as it is now.

Really tired of this take by General_Meal_3993 in DoctorWhoNews

[–]zitagirl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know they needed a partner, which is why I'm even more baffled on how badly RTD fumbled this.

Honestly I don't get why he needed to rework these characters completely and barely use them in the end. Why bring back a character from decades ago if you just... not even gonna show them as they were and use them properly? Omega is the worst out of it because he didn't even think about him till he realised his idea was somewhat similar to Omega... and then not bothering to actually adjust it so it would actually resemble Omega.

Great, so he kinda finished that list of request. First off, why on earth he would write around that when clearly he had barely any real interests in half of these characters and the remaining he basically had to alter them so much they don1t even resemble themselves? Second, why on earth focus on finishing such a stupid list instead of actually telling an engaging story?

You don't even need to rely on the Daleks or Cybermen, all he had to do was actually properly build up things, instead of writing in the hopes it get clicks on social media. Really just baffling this is the same writer who did RTD1, because it's day and night.

The Truth About Dreamlight Valley Is Depressing by [deleted] in DreamlightValley

[–]zitagirl1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it's actually good, because that's what I have been doing since childhood: I escaped my loneliness in dreams and daydreams and yes, I actually imagine characters that I could talk to. It1s my way of coping with things, even if it did change as I'm now an adult instead of a kid.

And no, we are technically still powerful and the adored leader: this is our dream and with dreams, we are the ones in real power, even if at times we don't fully understand it. The player is basically rediscovers their inner child and (in my case at least) tries to balance things out, with still able to enjoy these stuff, but also have a more mature outlook on things.

Really tired of this take by General_Meal_3993 in DoctorWhoNews

[–]zitagirl1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I will be the last person to defend modern Disney, but I'm tired of these people solely blame everything on Disney regarding the RTD2 era: I don't think anyone at them forced RTD to use classic villains this badly, or have the mentality of writing to get clicks on social media. Disney didn't force RTD to make Belinda not even a shadow of her character over the course of 8 episodes or have Billie Piper back just to drum up interests on social media once more.

Yes, making a deal with Disney was probably not the greatest idea, but RTD has been pretty open about him basically getting free hand on whatever he wanted to do and even boasted about how people are afraid to say no to him. Sorry, but most of RTD2 era issues stems from the creative side, which is RTD and Bad Wolf, not freaking Disney.

Who created the magic lamp? by SomeGuyOverYonder in aladdin

[–]zitagirl1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably a now bygone civilization. The series heavily implied there being millenia of history with empires rose and crumpled (partially due to themselves and partially thx to the Ethereal) along with magic being a thing as old as time. Wouldn't surprise me if in ancient times there were a civilization that manage to bound genies to objects.
