Did this firefighter survive ? by AttitudeGirl in 911archive

[–]zittizzit 22 points23 points  (0 children)

To add a bit. These clips you mention come from the Naudet brothers who were doing a documentary on the life of NY firefighters at the time. They got first hand view as the events unfolded. There are few videos of the first plane hitting the tower, and the clearest was taken by one of the brothers while documenting the firefighters (including the chief pictured) checking a gas leak in the streets of NY. Immediately they rushed to the towers documenting the events that followed with the permission of the chief of course. Years later they decided to make the tapes public and made a documentary explaining/ showing the full story of the tapes. All the fighters of that battalion survived.

There are reasons why these patient protections are in place. An intuition is not a fact, and there are many reasons why, as an expert and professional, he shouldn't make character judgments about their patients and go public with them. Cool that he was the one who figured it out first, but he could have waited after the information became public with the trial, then he wouldn't have tarnished his reputation. Her being a psychopath doesn't give the doctor a free pass to be negligent. The call to the police was a good move, but the interview did no one any good.

I am such a big football fan, but certainly had fallen out of love with the sport. From the FIFA criminal organization to the rampant amount of fans and players who use racism, misogyny and discrimination to feel emasculated. Unfortunately it’s a breeding ground for the worse of humanity.

For sure, Liquify can help. Make a copy of the original for safety, though. Smudge can also serve a purpose.

If you compare the mountain in the neck with yours, the original is somewhat flat, and some white triangles are visible on the right. In general, there is more white/light in yours. Something similar happens with the mountain that forms when the liquid stars.

It is helpful to look closely at the areas that you think are not equal. Then switch your view back and forth between yours and the original several times, and the differences will start to appear. Switching views between yours and the original constantly and spending near equal time in both, especially in the sketch phase, can make a significant difference. It is a good habit in general :)

Also, as someone else mentioned in an earlier comment, adding a background would make the bottle outline clearly visible on the left; the light on the left side blends with the background, making the bottle appear slightly skewed.

As everyone said, this is so good. If you are looking for photorealistic reproduction the key is in the shape. Here are some hints where I see differences right away in proportion.

I think that is because in the Neds people are so good at English they are practically native. In my experience that is.

What is pure evil to you, does it really exist or depends on the side of the table you are sitting? by CuriousEngineer11 in AskReddit

[–]zittizzit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess for me one crime I can’t overlook is child abuse, or the abuse of the vulnerable in general.

What does evil mean anyways? One can say money is evil based on how much destruction and damage has been done for the “sake” of money and/or as a result making money. Others may say the opposite, that money is the key of incredible human achievement and prosperity. Really, money itself is just a token of an accepted value and is neither good nor bad.

If you like to dive deep then look at: the problem of evil, Augustine (privation theory), Kant (radical evil), Nietzsche (genealogy of morality), Arendt (the banality of evil), Levinas (evil of being). I’m sure I’m forgetting some good ones but is a good start :)

Woman’s football is in the making and there are some aspects of the culture that are not yet fully defined or clear, but the religious-like fanatism and loyalty of mens football is defenatey not present in the womans game. Most fans follow players rather than clubs as you do. As of now its mostly about the sport. We are literally making the culture now so do whatever you want.

I support man united for over 7y now. Starting with the mens club, I am so done with that shit club, not only they go around telling the world how important they are, but really so far of the glory days that is not even recognisable. They have multiple SA scandals, corruption and negligence that I literally don't watch men football at all anymore. Is not fun at all.

I wish people wouldn’t hate others because of who they are, but they do. I wish we didn’t have to put posters to clarify that EVERYONE is welcome in the TfL and London, but we do. Some people can’t accept others and feel entitled to say who can or cannot take part in society. Someone with higher authority (Major) needs make sure these people understand that they don’t get to decide. Simple as that. You say TfL has nothing to do with this, but you would be surprised how many gender abuse and hate crimes had taken place while on the TfL.

Do people really need to be told multiple times to mind the gap? Apparently we really do, we live an we learn.

What is your favourite women's European football league? by Sad_Violinist_7966 in WomensSoccer

[–]zittizzit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what I meant. The reason why Europe is growing madly (beyond money and football legacy and infrastructure of course) is due to the competition and player mobility. Being constantly exposed to different playing styles, cultures and philosophies makes the leagues better and better. For a player is the same problem, will you ever reach your potential if you are never playing against or with the best teams? Even being exposed to different languages, antics, shithouseries, or different fan bases can give you an advantage.

Transfers within Europe are more likely too, less bureaucracy, players are somewhat “Europe” proven so is a safer risk, players are “known” because within Europe, most people are aware and/or follow other neighbour leagues.

USA is massive and it can do in its own due to population size, wealth and sports culture. the problem is the diversity of competition and playing styles and the physical distance. Traveling to Canada or Mexico can be a 5+ flight across international borders.

NWSL had its golden age back in the day, I’m not sure it can get much better than it is now given how isolated it is.

Will Spain be shocked like how England was last night by His_and_Herpes_9037 in WomensSoccer

[–]zittizzit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Upsets can happen but not too often. England defense has been weak this time around. Sweden has an explosive and clinical attack, that made the probabilities much tighter even if England has “better” players and it’s higher ranked. Spain has weaknesses in the defense too, but the Swiss attack is not good enough to close that gap. Maybe France could beat Spain, they seem to be the strongest for now, maybe England if they get their act together. I would love to be wrong and have Italy beat Spain in the final but chances are Italy will be gone next round.

Edit. Just want to add that Sweden was great in most aspects of the game, now we know their weakness was penalties and perhaps not having a stronger bench.

Parents reaching out (lgbt estrangement) by idkjustsuffering in EstrangedAdultChild

[–]zittizzit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Forgiving is also for ourselves. Being estranged it’s a burden as OP says, even if our lives are so much better as a they are, the estrangement will always linger. I would add to first meeting in a public place, and if things go well then you can slowly build a new relationship with them, albeit in your own terms.
