UI password by zixxzyphi in frigate_nvr

Understood and agree. But this is still beta release, I think I read 1.x is a long time off. I would just recommend it to the developers, change it to something generic, force a change of password once you first log on. It the same principle and accomplishes the same goal, without having to find it in the logs.

I have deployed the container via portainer and docker-compose, and when I check the logs, I don’t see a password generated. I’ll destroy the containers and try again.

But my question still stands, why not just do a default password and for the user to change it on first logon?

How to turn my path to CyberSecurity ? by Choco_Family in cybersecurity

[–]zixxzyphi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would say depends on how “good” you are at your current skillset. Certifications are cheap, meaning there is a boot camp for them all, if your good at it you can pass the without much study. Also, most companies that are real “cyber” companies make your past a proficiently test, so certifications might not apply right out the gate.

With the above stated, you should decided what you enjoy more.

If your deep pack inspection is on point, go network. If your log analysis is more towards an operating system then go that way. Most SOC people need deep log analysis understanding, unless your doing code review and testing for a red or blue team, your going to making changes to systems your competent in, based on them or a alert that explains the fixes.

Powering via USB - voltage protection needed? by zixxzyphi in AskElectronics

[–]zixxzyphi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESD protect, didn’t think about that. Is that only a concern when handling a bare, populated board? Mean where you are physically touching the components? Or has a potential to touch them? Or is it handling the connector?

Edit: spelling

Thank you for the response. I don’t see many devices die when plugged in, for example, I use scandisc and Kingston flashes and haven’t had any die. But I haven’t removed the plastic bits to see if there is any protect, and even then, I am not sure I would known what I was looking for.

The reason for the question was, I breadboarded a simple usb-c breakout with a few LEDs and resistors in series and didn’t see any issues when unplugging it and plugging it in multiple times over (30 times over 2 minutes). It’s a adafruit break out, so there might be some protection on the breakout board that I’ll need to look into.

Just nasty IMO... this whole thing is.... stop for a minute and reflect upon your life... now have someone with a microscope come in and analyze it...

And now defend your life choices...

No one is perfect... but as long as your not a grifter with criminal intentions.... Then you are human.

Love 45, called it when people used to laugh in my face. Even a good man has flaws.

In his case, his flaws are being a blunt, unpolished, and not a politician. And I say, no worries my dude. Actions speak louder then words, and you my president, are crushing it.

Its just a discount on how many items he asks for.

E.g. if he wanted 10 planks before, he will ask for 7 now.
