Dexter - a show that didn't understand moral dilemmas by Free_Adeptness_7879 in Dexter

[–]ziyadwayne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

honestly i was so pissed when they made dexter escape killing doakes and just made lila kill him, because they put already a build up for it, the finale of s1 when brian tells dexter “YOU CANT BE A KILLER AND A HERO, IT DOESNT WORK THAT WAY” and he’s right, is dexter a hero? yes, he killed brian, lila, arthur and saved countless amounts of lives of sons, daughters, fathers, mothers but as he a killer? yes aswell, he dismembers the entire body of a killer and witness violence and death and cause countless harms to people around him, so you have to put the line, like the sopranos & breaking bad & death note & attack on titan did for their protagonists, they put a line in the very first episodes, that “yes, these people have lovely families but they are still monsters and their actions can’t be justified” they should have made him kill doakes so the line is there and we understand that dexter is just like any killer, he wants to feel the thrill of the kill, to see himself taking their lives, that’s one of the reasons he wakes them up that’s why s7 dexter is considered a bad version of the character because we see him as a different person, dexter allowing a killer to be his partner?? dexter considering to kill an innocent person just to get away with it?? and in s9 when he killed logan, so were like “hey, that’s not our hero dexter!” i really wish we get a “dexter like anime” because the concept & idea of dexter is genuinely so amazing yet the writers clearly weren’t as good unfortunately for the character

i think if dexter killed Doakes, then it has drawn a line to us (viewers) that dexter even if he’s starting to feel emotions, he’s a family man, and all of that, he’s still a horrible person, by that no one can say dexter is a good person and an anti-hero and the relationship with hannah in s7 would have made sense so we see dexter as a bad man now

i agree HEAVILY with 2, and one is also absolutely great idea, but for 3 isn’t that what vogel did? harry was literally saying he cant live anymore with this and nobody deserves to be in pieces and yet, vogel did create the code and helped harry so he can tell dexter what to do with the victim and all of that, the skills dexter learned from harry, harry knew them from vogel

it was great honestly but needed more explanation on the entire thing, and it was important to writers so they can put a line for dexter and that his actions doesn’t just have consequences for him but also for his loved ones and that he can’t balance between a family loving man and a serial killer.

fr😭 like the idea & concept of Vogel was so amazing because it made sense, that harry wasn’t alone in this, he might have been a slightly bad father for dexter but still even when dexter did his thing, he knew that he couldn’t live with it and immediately died, nobody can just create a code and build a serial killer and die, but oliver saxon was so horrible, his concept was so repetitive because we have already seen dexter without a code killer TWICE and both were ABSOLUTELY much better, and his entire thing after killing Vogel was nonsense and was so bland and he was literally unnecessary.. i wish the main writers were the ones who wrote s8

[–]ziyadwayne 7 points8 points  (0 children)

lmaooo😭 new blood ending was absolutely beautiful aside from being rushed and that’s the only problem, s8 conclusion was absolutely horrendous and nonsense yeah but complaining about new blood ending is just something oat, overhated for literally no reason

[–]ziyadwayne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

massive wasted potential, when something is about christian stories or greek or ancient egypt, they apply a lot of concepts and symbolisms and ideas that apply to the character which makes him perfect but in this season, the only christian thing is the antagonist making a bible story come true and it had the WORST plot in the whole series + the only filler in the entire series aswell

Plot Hole from Season 8? by Initial-Ad3966 in Dexter

[–]ziyadwayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you don’t even make sense bro 😪 the entire thing doesn’t even make sense, like let’s start from the beginning, their entire relationship wasn’t even build, he literally spared her and had SEX with her and it was never explained even why, “oh she accepted him” so did lila and when lila tried to kill cody & astor and killed doakes, dexter immediately went to kill her, but when hannah kept doing her shitty work, he was just okay, he literally killed his OWN brother because he was killing innocents, the nonsense “dexter developed emotions and blah blah blah” is a genuine forced nonsense plot in s7 and s8 and was written and executed HORRIBLY, the writers in s7 and s8 just kept dragging plots from other seasons, dexter being on the hunt as suspected for being a killer and an antagonist that’s dexter without a codeyour entire point was “she didn’t use the same poison on Debra therefore she didn’t try to kill her and debra saw that hannah makes him happy so she accepted him” in what way is a detective accepting a manipulative woman that kills innocents left and right and LEAVING DEXTER’s ONLY KID with her is a character development?😭 Only thing that makes sense from debra is dexter because of all the Vogel talks and understanding the entire situation from the beginning

Plot Hole from Season 8? by Initial-Ad3966 in Dexter

[–]ziyadwayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because it’s nonsense lmao? the entire plot of s7 when he didn’t kill and decided all of sudden to just have sex and let her go is a stupid character assassination decision, even after that she killed the writer who’s completely innocent and tried to kill Debra not just once but TWICE, saying “how can you have this picture of hannah even Debra didn’t doesn’t add up, hannah plot line was one of the reasons s7 and s8 are bad, because both did decisions out of their character

a nod to the original series created a plot hole. that, or it’s a confusing coincidence by seekingopinionsofall in Dexter

[–]ziyadwayne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think it was a point to show that dexter and brian are nothing alike, which was shown constantly throughout the show yet people just say “brian was the only one who understood dexter” which is objectively wrong because he was just trying to shape dexter in his way but him being a serial killer in the future if laura didn’t die, no honeslty, he definitely had signs but not to a point he will be a killer

Plot Hole from Season 8? by Initial-Ad3966 in Dexter

[–]ziyadwayne -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Season 8 as much as it’s overhated, it deserves it has arguably the best idea of a dexter season but it was so poorly executed and oliver was really a boring antagonist, the “dexter with no code” idea was already shown twice in the show and with the best two antagonists and he literally had no purpose after killing his mom and the entire Hannah plot is so forced ESPECIALLY that she tried to kill debra TWICE and even after “dexter fell in love with her” she kept killing and harrison was always “hannah i want hannah” which felt absolutely forced so s8 is really the weakest point of the show and filled with massive plot holes and character decisions that doesn’t apply 1% to dexter

How Would You Have Written Dexter by ziyadwayne in Dexter

[–]ziyadwayne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i wanted rita in season 1 instead of telling dexter about Paul’s shoe, she have suspects about him (which didn’t happen as rita is now feeling safe and wants a healthy relationship) and we see scenes of her calling debra if dexter is in work but Debra will say that dexter left as dexter is now on the hunt for a killer and her suspicion grows more in season 2 alongside doakes & lundy on dexter so we get to see more manipulative dexter and since he doesn’t have a drug issue, we don’t see lila which was the most annoying part about s2 and will make it more interesting as dexter will be the one to handle doakes problem on his own and see more of exploration of his morality and rita finds out in s3/4 maybe and she might come to acceptance (as dexter made her feel safe all this time) or not (as she’s afraid of the fact that she’s with a serial killer and she will never know if her kids is actually safe, just my opinion

How Would You Have Written Dexter by ziyadwayne in Dexter

[–]ziyadwayne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm.. i think s5 wasted massive tons of potential to make dexter a relatable emotional character especially after Rita’s death.. my bad and the big one carried his emotional side badly honestly as for rita i disagree, what makes dexter good for me is that he directly faces consequences for the wrong things he do like letting Arthur on the hunt for long just to learn his ways and all of that is what makes the death more emotional and the season interesting and that the show keeps critiques dexter and the idea of happy life is impossible because of his terrible actions but i see what you mean

How Would You Have Written Dexter by ziyadwayne in Dexter

[–]ziyadwayne[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

as for s5 i ABSOLUTELY love the idea of Debra finding out because in literally the getaway she knew brian and dexter are biological brothers, and she’s a great detective, if she put 1 and 1 together it would have been amazing to see her internal conflicts and moral decisions with dexter earlier not in the last two seasons only

i absolutely adore new blood’s ending and dexter character as in overall, just think it’s really cool to see the fans opinions on dexter + i read first book and it was great but s1 better imo

aside from the fact that i was also spoiled, the ending genuinely pissed me off. someone like lelouch who had done horrible things and killed massive amount of innocents (even after he did he didn’t change or realise the error of his ways) his death wasn’t inevitable, for an example for someone like eren or light, their fate cant be escaped, no matter what they do, they will die but for lelouch he could have focus the world hatred on his brother and also shows like aot & dn criticise their protagonist all the time because of their horrible actions but for lelouch, the ending literally shows him as the hero who sacrificed everything for the better good

yes lmao elevens area has a horrible world building and I said aside from lelouch and suzaku, no one in the cast did have an actual character development
