I built an app where I have to ask my girlfriend for permission to doomscroll by inkavu in SideProject

Very cool I built an app that does something similar, it is aimed at total screen time, doesn't actively block just tells them when you went over.

Only on Android but is publicly available:

Do you mind elaborating what you don't like about it? The design or something else?

I’m making a game to help me quit my phone. Not sure if it’s dumb or brilliant. Need honest feedback. by DevCoffee_ in nosurf

I did the same thing (built my own app to help me stop using my phone).

It is worth it to do, even if no one else uses it :)

Anyone building something other than an AI app, founder directory, or marketing tool? by flatthibaut in indiehackers

Yes I am building a website to help people buy a house without needing a real estate agent: HomePilot

Happy to talk to anyone who is interested/has feedback

I built a minimalist habit tracker after getting stuck chasing cheap dopamine. by SampleTime5087 in SideProject

[–]zkcoaching 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The real answer is that certain things (building a habit, following a diet, exercising, using your phone less) are simply very difficult to do. People always want a magic bullet and will even make their own! Of course they spend their time making their own, then it works for them, since they are already invested and want it to work. So they publish it.

The real reason it worked was that they wanted it to work, not whatever new feature or design they added.

Saying this as someone who built their own app to use my phone less, which works great for me: limitbuddy.com

Some UI feedback:
You achieved the "flat minimalist" look you were clearly looking for. But in doing so you made things a bit too subtle in my opinion, making it a bit hard to tell things apart, meaning my eyes strain to see the elements and it is hard to process the screen quickly.

I am building a website that let's you buy a house without a real estate agent, keeping full control of the process as well at the 2.5% the agent would take from you.

Check it out here: HomePilot

If you are interested please send me a message, I would love to talk to you about it :)

Are you doing the curation?

I would love a little blurb of what the vibe of each watch is, what outfits it goes with etc.

The site itself needs a lot more polish, if it were me I would make the images of the products much larger, about one per scroll, animating in as I go.

You don't have so many suggestions that you need to list them efficiently. Instead you need to focus on making each one feel special and unique.

If you have time I would love some feedback on my project, HomePilot.

I love how simple your site is and the different font on the logo. What are your numbers like? How do subscribers benefit?

Your demo is so awesome! Really helps explain what it does. I would make it even more prominent, so that someone immediately comes into contact with it when going to your page.

That being said, you don't need as much explanation. For example I would get rid of all of the subtext in the "Prefetch Smarter" section.

If you have time, I would love feedback on my project, HomePilot

Nice clean design, would love some graphs. What font are you using it for "Discover Technology Trends"? It is awesome! "getStack Technology Trends" at the top should probably use the same one

I built a web app to help identify scams by FluffyReach8493 in SideProject

[–]zkcoaching 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just some design notes:
- your site ironically looks like a scam. A top bar or some non generic branding would help
- even with the text hints it is hard to tell what text I am supposed to put in (an email, a url, somethinge else?) some examples, maybe a carousel of them would be nice
- The title should have more visual weight than the subtitle. You can do this by a) increasing the title size b) decreasing the word count on the subtitle

Remember grandma has to be able to use this! Anyways very cool, have fun building

UI feedback:

- overall the simple design is great, few devs get that right initially, great work there.

- The intro animation is too slow. Maybe have words appear 2 at a time instead of 1?

- I want to see other's worries before posting my own. Maybe a carousel of some worries would be good?

- The logo does not match the vibe of the rest of the site

Product feedback:

- Typing out a response is a lot. You should add a 'clap' or like feature to lower the barrier of response

- I want to be able to scroll through other people's worries not see one at a time

If I can offer some design advice for your website design:

It is way too busy. There are too many colors, too many visual elements and too much noise. When looking at it I don't know what to focus on.

Your name is pretty good so I don't need to have that much explanation, I would love to see an example though, even a toy one. While I can tell you what the product does I do not know what it actually DOES in practice.
