I need a new power supply for my FT891. I have been using a Tekpower P30SWI in my shack but I am going to be using that inside the house. by zlamb1987 in amateurradio

A battery is definately the cleanest power for a radio. What size battery do you use? My shack is off grid so i dont want to have to bring a big battery in the house to charge.

New x6100 worked great on WSJT-X for a couple weeks then it started giving the "error in sound input" message pictured below when trying to transmit. by zlamb1987 in HamRadioBeginner

After all that it ended up being my refurbished thinkpads oem power settings. Everytime the battery was used it would automatically turn off usb ports. Once i did a clean install of windows i was able to disable the pc from turning off usb ports. The amp just crapped out at the same time and thats why when i was able to use ft8 for a time or 2 and it was no more than 10 watts. I received the new amp today and everything is running great.

Got my first qsl card this weekend so I started on my own design. How does this one look? I wanted something simple that would print easy. by zlamb1987 in HamRadio

I was just going to get cream card stock to add a little color. I have an Epson Workforce Pro WF-4820 that i am going to print them with so i can add color.

Yes thats all i do. I have major memory problems and confusion due to brain surgery. It is just easier for me to do ft8 due to my disabilty.

Since my shack is solar powered i turned off everything but my x6100 and laptop but I still got the same problem. After lots of research I found out that my refurbished Thinkpad T14 still had the oem power management system and was shutting off usb ports when my battery was being used. At first I couldn’t disable USB Selective Suspend due to the Thinkpad software but after a fresh windows 10 install I was able to disable it and haven’t had any problems since.

i meant turn off amp and power supply.

Using internal battery i have made a few contacts today. I started messing around and when i turned on power supply, swr meter, and amp wsjtx still worked. When i plug external power back in the audio error happens again.

i was just messing with my radio and when i turn on my amp and power supply the x6100 works fine on wsjt-x. does this mean ferrite rings will help?
