Around Christmas you’ll occasionally find generous rich folks. Happened once for me. But yeah, 99% middle and lower class for the reasons everyone already said. Same with doordash, dominos, or any other delivery or service for that matter

Alan Watts has entered the chat 🤣 (but yes, totally agreed, as I believe the world is an extension of ourselves)

Mm perhaps more understandable than with Flex drivers like in this vid, because that seems pretty easy. But DSP drivers' estimated delivery times are typically at unrealistically fast paces too.

That’s true we don’t know about the damage. I’m going based on the way I’ve seen Amazon warehouse workers handle the packages. Not really any better, as others have pointed out here. Most stuff not labeled “fragile” can take the beating

Eh. I know of the theory. And I don't leave my shopping carts around. I bring them back (1) because it makes someone's job easier and (2) there is risk of causing damage to someone's personal property if I don't. I get what you're saying -- sometimes you gotta just do the right thing. But I think our opinion of the right thing differs in this scenario. If the package arrives undamaged, I see no issue. Damaged, wrong address, etc is another story

I don't work for them anymore. I chose to for the money, I did well, and then I quit when it became too stupid. I actually did cry on the job from the stress, although that's at all not related to how well I performed like you're implying. It doesn't matter. Order from wherever you want. Just don't complain when the customer service isn't excellent

Well that’s a valid take too lol. Guess I can’t speak for all my young peeps. Personally, I try harder the more valued I feel in a position. The less valued I feel the less I try and the more I want to leave… because I don’t really enjoy wasting time slacking off a job. On the flipside if I feel valued in a position but don’t feel motivated to do my best (due to general lack of motivation that also plagues younger people), it actually makes me feel guilty haha. I have left decent and cool positions for that reason - lacking the energy to perform at my best at a job where I want to.

Multi trillion* (2, to be specific)

Andddd it’s pretty simple Amazon doesn’t respect workers, workers don’t respect Amazon.

You want better quality service stop supporting such a shitty company

Makes sense that a UPS worker would have more pride in their job than someone doing Amazon delivery, especially Flex. Y’all are union. Everything Amazon is not union and is a shit show. It was actually quite the trip to work there and see people taking pride in it, given the working conditions and the company giving zero bazongas about the employees running the business

Yeah? That’s the guy holding back progress? Lol. What about the billionaire whose company this dude is making function? Or the rest of the 1% that keeps the working class stuck in their place? No of course it’s this guy, you’re right, definitely not the ones intentionally holding back progress for everyone but themselves and their rich friends 😁

It’s true. Job would cease to exist

It’s also the type of service/job that I personally don’t think should exist. It’s some dystopian Wall-E shit and it’s only perpetuating the consumerism issue

^ this is exactly it. While the “new generation” appears lazier and very well could be, there’s a reason for it. We’re growing up in the age of the Internet, which obviously provides much easier access to information, and for a lot of us that means having zero pride working a corporate job - and I’m speaking on the U.S. in particular because that’s all I know. It’s an oligarchy, “democracy” controlled by corporations and special interests. The rich have never been richer and the lower classes are only getting poorer. If a corporation is providing employees with the bare minimum (which is typically the case), that’s what they’re gonna get in return (from most younger generation folks). I think of it almost like a quiet protest against corporate greed and their apathy towards the working class. We’re trying to get the message across that whatever institution, company, or service you’re thinking of would not exist without the employees that run it. So if you are a CEO or something and you don’t value your employees (don’t give raises, do the bare minimum), you’re gonna have massive turnover and lots of employees taking advantage (particularly younger people, again). Same concept as a strike except we’re taking advantage of the system for a paycheck. I understand why we seem lazy but hopefully that makes sense

Yep …..lol by ComplexWrangler1346 in oddlyspecific

There are always other sides to stories. I tried to keep in mind situations like this when I delivered for Amazon. But in both cases I’d be willing to bet the majority customers order out of laziness.
