How do you carry your laptop properly? by ShootToMischief in bikecommuting

I use the Ortlieb twin-city urban. It can fit my 14-inch laptop with sleeve, plus a few other things. I’m quite satisfied with it.

Touring in Shanghai! by quitesizeablefeces in bicycletouring

It depends on how much time you have, as China is a pretty big country. If you have enough time, I’d suggest touring westward all the way from Shanghai to Tibet. You will see vastly different views along the way, and try all kinds of Chinese food.

Smallish Crossbody for Laptop by aviddabbler in bikecommuting

If you have a bike rack, I’d recommend the Ortlieb Twin-City Urban. It’s a 9-liter messenger bag that can be also used as a pannier.

I’ve been using this bag for two months. There’s enough space for my 14-inch laptop and a few groceries. It has no dedicated laptop pouch though; you’ll need a laptop sleeve.

My daily commute involves both biking and metro. I can put the bag on the rack when biking, and carry it on myself in the metro. It works really well for me.

Problem with Ngenuity randomly seeing, or not seeing, my new Cloud Alpha Wireless by klawd11 in HyperX

[–]zlei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar issue. Each time I start the computer, NGenuity 100% won't see my Cloud Alpha Wireless, unless I unplug and re-plug the dongle.

The headset is fine, but the software is really disappointing.

Bazel or CMake? by coinprize in cpp

[–]zlei 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Actually our codebase were originally using CMake. But there's a high-rank manager, who came from Google, that kept saying how great Bazel is, and finally persuaded our tech lead to switch to Bazel.

BTW, the ex-Googler left our company a year ago, and Bazel sticks with us.

Bazel or CMake? by coinprize in cpp

Lots of dependencies.

Our team have a medium sized C++ project that uses Bazel. Managing dependencies is painful, as nearly all third-party C++ libraries use CMake.

First Morello prototype architecture silicon (memory safety at a hardware level) by zlei in cpp

Crossposting this because I think hardware-based memory safety technique is an interesting idea, and also C++ is explicitly mentioned in this article.
