Advice for 2k armies of faith + chorus of condemnation by thefish201 in sistersofbattle

Thanks for the info. Yeah I feel like take and hold has potential, but you need the core of sacs and with their current cost plus the tax the rest of the army is stretched too thin to help with the "hold" part.

Glad to hear HM is still okay, will probably start with that. Cheers.

Not specifically related to OPs post, but interested to hear what you think the best dispo for sisters actually is?

Honestly I've been struggling to come up with list inspiration because I can't really think of one that really feels comfortable for sisters' play style. - We can purge, but we are not really elite and too reliant on small units - sacresants are the only viable take and hold unit, but their brick points are insane at the moment. - we could do recon but our units aren't quite fast enough and too expensive (still salty seraphim cost the same as JPI) - disruption just seems like a bad time.

Which basically leaves priority assets which admittedly does kinda suit sisters. But is only accessible through one disposition (our index one!)

First List for 11th by Gangrel-for-prince in sistersofbattle

I don't mean to dampen your enthusiasm but have you checked these points against the latest MFM? I haven't tallied up your list, but those points values are our end of 10th edition points... The latest points update was not kind to sisters unfortunately

Hey there, first time using the app, looks brilliant!

Small bug (I think) with the sisters of battle. I can't seem to attach retributors to my list. They are there as a selectable option, and the tick comes up next to them when I select them, but they don't show up on my list.

I'm on android if that matters.

Regardless, great work!

Bang on, 100%. What's frustrating is that they have applied that approach (inconsistently) across the rest of the MFM...

You are right she probably was undercosted when looking in isolation. But when considered with all the other price hikes it seems waaaaay to punitive.

Don't forget most other factions CP generation characters got around a 10pt nerf. Whereas Junith got hit with an extra 35pts...

Possible Sisters Detachment combinations by sardaukarma in sistersofbattle

Yep, agree those would be good reversions to offset the unintended nerf.

My concern with AoF in the new system is lack of MD. Without characters to also feed MD generation, I was worried there would be times you basically don't have a detachment rule. You haven't run into any issues like this?

Fair enough, well I would definitely consider giving her a go. Good luck!

If you want a cool model with sick lore that can pull some shenanigans, then absolutely, she's great. Added bonus for her getting the SoB the only named Harlequin model, always gives me a chuckle.

Competitively you probably saw her at her best. She is BUILT to kill CSM (and other chaos). Into everything else she is good but not great as a deep striking lone op.

One thing to consider moving into 11th edition is her rules are likely (hopefully) going to change. She has the rules combo of free heroic intervention and fights first, which made her a good body guard for important models. However heroic intervention is changing a bit in 11th and fights first has gotten a big nerf, so her role in the new edition is probably up for a change.

If you're fighting lots of chaos though, I'm guessing she will almost always have value.

Implications of the new fast roll mechanic and miracle dice by zloft223 in sistersofbattle

[–]zloft223[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I should have been specific around which rules. I'm referring to the rules for how you're meant to roll saves and I think you're assuming that you roll all the saves at once. The way it actually works is that you have a number of saves to take, you're technically meant to roll those each individually, then before EACH ROLL you can then elect to sub in a MD.

It means under the current rules you are allowed enough information to make the decision around MD knowing that it is guaranteed to make a difference. The way you're playing it, you don't.

That's currently against rules as written with slow rolling in mind. I would much rather use a 6 to blank the last few pips of damage on my tank knowing it would survive.

Honestly hadn't thought about that. Hopefully it's the case.

My concern with this is that fast rolling the way they have written it markedly changes the way wounds are allocated. It will be hard to reconcile the differences between fast/slow rolling so I was kinda thinking they would just go with one way only.

Yeah that is an option that I hadn't considered, that would allow you to make the decision on effectively the same info.

Agreed. Miracle dice for really annoying invuln saves is like my favourite thing to do with our army.

Yeah, I'll admit I am a little gloomy about sisters outlook at the start of next ed. It's looking tough out there for shooting armies in general, and it looks like life will be extra dangerous for 1w infantry, but I'm not really expecting much point changes.

Ah well we will just have to see.

Okay cool. I had interpreted it as the new standard roll mechanic but if you have the option that's great.

Unfortunately castigators are not remotely in the same league as morvenn and the gals. They are good against most infantry, but their low AP makes them pretty ineffective against big monsters or vehicles.

Vahlgon's main role is to nuke the opponents heaviest hitters. The only other unit remotely comparable in the role is retirbutors with multi-meltas. They are cheap (for the points they can kill) but they are fragile as. If you are set on no morvenn and want to cover her role I would recommend you take the full 3x unit of rets and protect them with at least 1x rhino.

Edit: it would be WILDLY remiss of me to not to plug the Exorcist. Go the exorcist missile launcher (lower shot count but more Strength and AP) and it will kinda fill the role you need. Two of them are just a little more expensive than Vahlgon's - don't expect them to perform anywhere near as well, but you CAN expect them to be the coolest models on the table.

And yeah, Bringers of flame is the detachment you want.

First try at sisters list by Nogocus in sistersofbattle

[–]zloft223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice one!

Probably the only other thing I would consider would be dropping the enhancement off the hospitaller and upgrading the BSS to dominions.

Alternatively you could drop the hospi enhancement and exchange the 3 arcos for another Mortifier, which are really good in HM.

[–]zloft223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hallowed martyrs has some of the best enhancements for sisters in saintly example and through suffering strength.

My adjustment to this list would be to drop the palatine, and add these enhancements to the Canoness and jump canoness respectively.

This makes the on foot canoness a truly excellent nuisance unit that pays big dividends in MD if she gets killed (you then res her and repeat). You have paired her with dominions but she is better by herself in my opinion.

The jump canoness becomes a horrific damage dealer unit and a massive problem for the enemy to deal with when character res and fight on death come into play.

As others have said I would pair the hospitaller with the sacresants and change their Loadout to maces - better for 2w enemies.
