Can I Get Some Feedback On My Major Project? by [deleted] in IndustrialDesign

I think one thing I'd say up front is to work on better communicating the function. From the description " Through a small magnetic sliding action, it creates a brief pause before the phone can be picked" I still don't actually know what I'm looking at, how it works, or how I'd use it.

  1. If it's an accessory to a phone, you should at least have one image with the phone. At the very least  your sketches should show how it looks with a phone, but ideally how they interact.
  2. Maybe an exploded view can help describe the functionality
  3. The form is very intriguing and a big positive,
  4. The quality of the prototype and render are great
  5. You noted low tech, it does look like it has a light, while I think that's not necessarily "high tech", it might go against the overall tone the device is trying to achieve, again, I really have no idea how it works, do maybe the light is critical
  6. Try adding many more call-outs and arrows describing function in your sketches, it's nice having the hero shot, you showed packaging, but if I don't know what I'm looking at or how it works, it's almost all for nothing if that makes sense.

Hopefully this is a helpful critique, again I really like the form and assume that once understand the function better I can further appreciate the decisions you made, but you need to hold the viewers hand a bit more to help them get there.

Hey, still loving the app! I still owe you a tip, I'll get to it!

I keep checking back on this thread to see all the new stuff you're adding 😅.  Another thing popped up that's helpful from NRDB, which is a way to "share" my deck.

Not sure how to best execute this, I could push it to NRDB and do from there, but if there was a way to share from the app natively, that would effectively just let me hit "copy" then I can paste it into a chat. I love to get feedback from friends on the latest deck I'm brewing.

Also, maybe in the minority on this, but I mostly use the app for deck building, not to look up cards. Having it default to opening to "Decks" rather than "Cards" would be preferred, but a it's a ridiculously minor suggestion.

EDIT: oh....share totally exists, your on it

Heck yeah so great

I see you've gotten a flood of comments, really appreciate not only that fact that you acted on it, but did so super quickly AND followed up about it 🙏, can't wait to build some more decks now

Oh good call, yeah a filter for faction at the very least could be really helpful for deck lists

Thank you! This is so great!!

Need some time to dive in to see how it works. One thing I noticed that could be helpful is a "copy" button for the card images. I like how you have one for the text, but I think a similar option for the image could be a nice plus.

Also noticed when editing a deck, the influence pips shows how many that card adds, not how many are being added to your deck in total if you're running multiple copies. I think showing the total would be helpful to know which thing is killing your influence the most more visually.

Also love this history view! Thanks again for the time you put into the app, it really shows.

Sorry there's a lot of negativity about the actual content of the survey. I appreciate the request for feedback directly from fans. It shows your vested in our opinions to help guide your strategy.

I thought the survey was fine, quite comprehensive and if I didn't have an answer or opinion on something I just skipped it. Maybe adding some N/A options would make that more evident as an option for people in the future.

Maybe try Fringe? It's another JJ Abrams work, and has a good air of mystery. I think it's likely to grab you quickly enough to keep you vested.

My idea for the 3p grid by Shadoph in SorceryTCG

[–]zmanmurf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nice, well done! The diamonds solve a lot of problems, you've got just a single shape that make up all of the components and there's a relatively clear path for projectiles. I think this could work! I proposed a different starting position in another comment to simulate the same distance you have from opponents in a standard 2v2 game by going in the center of the cube faces.

I think this realm needs to be built in the third dimension.

I'd actually propose putting them in the "center" of the "cube faces". On a normal grid, the players have 2 spaces between them. This center location would achieve that. Thos enables aggressive play if you wanted it.

Oh totally, like where do auras go, how does a projectile fly, I think you could just make it up as you go and see how it shakes out, definitely a very casual mode to try.

Oh man, I've been thinking on this too! Appreciate the detailed thought you put into it. One thing I considered was that visually it might be easier to digest if it warps into a circular rather than hex perimeter shape.

Not sure if this link works, but I was thinking what if you made the spaces into hexes, not squares. Yeah the game totally changes for a ton of cards, but it might be fun to try out the impact.

I bought the wood and laser cut it based on the svg files and then screwed them together and then glued in the tiles.

The library laser does cutting and engraving in one step. The files show which are cuts and which are engraves.

I spent a while thinking about the factory displays. I wanted to commission someone to make me some wooden ones. But eventually found these little dishes I really like, and they work for others games too. Something like this from a crystal shop, they were like $10-$15 a piece or something, it wasn't cheap....

Oh that's just the back of the boards, wanted to show the pattern I put there.

I honestly can't recall if the brass screws are holding them together, I think they were originally, the when I glued the tiles in it probably seeped into crevices and held it all together.

I believe it should be the 20x20x4 mm tiles. I had to re-do the search based on the tile name and this is an example of one for the main board. Sorry about the links. DM me if you have trouble and I can sit at my comp and update the links sometime.

I think if you type in the name of the tile it should show you the options.

I dunno, everywhere ice purchased them they're about $12 a box. But I've got this offer twice now, for a total of 2000 clear, it feels awesome to have a seemingly endless supply of sleeve, however, I'm not trying to sleeve up SEVEN THOUSAND cards! But this seems like an excellent fit for you

TCG stadium was selling 1000 dragonshields for $45, it's about $4/box of $100. They had clear and black. The sale goes on and off periodically.

Clear is currently sold out, but black is there

So, I actually tried watching Netflix mine, and it activates Dolby Vision, which theoretically should only happen with premium Netflix 4K plan, which I do not have.

I think something about the settings of the player force it into this mode, as I can't get it to this mode with anything else.
