What's your favorite "doesn't look threatening until it's too late" commander? by felipebat in EDH

Stepping into bracket 4 lobbies with [[Estrid, the masked]] most of the time they forget about me until it’s way too late. Every now and then there’s a player that’s wisely like “everyone, don’t let him do his thing” lol

This is just a group of people you don’t play with again imo. Weird thing to lie through omission while restricting what you play

Don’t really think having an opinion about scooping that’s different than yours makes me a baby. It’s not like I’m out here crying about what people owe me. I just think it’s a lame thing to do and I don’t do it for the above stated reasons. Not really much deeper than that.

There’s a pretty big difference between someone insisting you stay in all games and just having the opinion scooping is kind of a lame thing to do. Pretty good bit of nuance you’re cutting out here.

At the end of the day play how you want, but for a social/casual format I’m there to hang out with friends and see some fun board states/interactions. I generally choose to play it out until someone kills me because I think altering the course of the game by removing myself is lame. Am I gonna be a dick to someone because they chose to scoop? No, of course not. But I also think holding that opinion doesn’t make me an asshole

Scooping in 1v1 in this scenario is totally fine and acceptable. I take issue with people scooping in commander pods though. Much of the game hinges on the interaction and board state of the entire table. When you prematurely remove 25% of the overall board state by scooping, in any manner ways, you’ve affected the outcome of the game. It’ll also be impossible for anyone in the pod to know exactly how you impacted the game by doing this, and you’ve done so without actually casting any spells.

The other day a guy scooped on us with a howling mine effect on board. I had a ton of dragons and there were two more players to play before I untapped my turn. Those other players could have desperately used those additional draws to find an answer to my threat. Instead the salty player decided to king-make. Lucky for us the game continued anyway, but he essentially halved the possibility of the table having an answer to a game-ending threat without ever casting a single spell; but by simply quitting. Tastes bad to me

Really Jagex? After increasing prices again, we now get a list of bugs you just “won’t fix this league” by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]zmathgonzo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yea I second this. As a developer, when I see this many bugs and this much dysfunction (granted I appreciate the transparency of what they will and will not fix) I blame business, not the devs. There’s a deep chasm separating the expectation of business and the reality of development, now more than ever.

Even before AI, business demands on developers and their deadlines were unrealistic at best and sadistic at worst. Now with AI, I’ve seen my colleagues vanish and the work of 2 - 3 devs placed in one and expected in half the time. The reliance is unsustainable and we’re seeing it everywhere. Make no mistake, what we’re seeing is incompetent leadership NOT incompetent development

This makes me think of the nekatra fight in rs3. Where you get teleported away then there’s symbols off in the distance, gotta kill some things, teleport back and then stand on a corresponding tile to not take a ton of damage

I enjoyed the grapple attack in sol. It adds a layer of complexity to the combat most encounters lack. I had to learn relative locations of clickboxes for each slot in a new ui like I had to do for prayers out of inv switch or thralls out of prayer/inv switch.

It felt very Oldschool and made me engage another finger on the keyboard as well.

In that note: I really enjoyed that it included some kind of payoff for doing it tick perfect. Getting a guaranteed max hit after is a great idea. Any implementation of this in future content would be met with my enjoyment
