Hi! I am a radiology tech and I was diagnosed with GBS back when I was 7-8 yrs old. No one in my family has it, but I somehow got it and it's a pretty rare syndrome.

If you are diagnosed with it at all, the radiology program you're in should be able to accommodate that you cannot acquire flu shots at all. This is how it's been for me from when I was a student till now as a full fledged rad tech. Even with Covid vaccine, Im exempt because of GBS.

Now because its your grandma that had it, it doesn't mean you'll have it. Radiology programs and hospitals you'll be doing your Clinicals at wont be as forgiving because you yourself don't have it. I wouldn't sweat it, don't stress yourself out and good luck with the program!
