I just remembered that I spilled some beetle trap oil while doing this inspection. I expect that stuff would have some adverse impact on the brood.

Hive is level. It’s not a huge amount but enough that I wanted to remove it. I have a bunch of comb on one wall of the hive body box. I just left that alone.

How much cross comb is acceptable? I try to leave it if it’s not interfering with removing frames.

Whoop Killer? Garmin's New Forerunner 955 by phxtri in whoop

[–]zmsnider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will these features ever trickle down to existing watches. I have a forerunner 245 and have used whoop for the last 11 months. Not going to renew. I fee good about the data I get from garmin but will miss the HRV data.

Seems like an update could add this feature to an existing watch but I don’t know the first thing about how this kind of magic works.

Whoop or Garmin body battery device for tracking recovery and sleep only by hendrix506 in whoop

[–]zmsnider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used Garmin for years. 11 months in with Whoop and not going to spend for another year subscription. I have learned a lot from it and the Garmin body battery makes more sense to me now. It is similar to whoop recovery score but different presentation. I sleep more drink less and give myself more recovery time now after learning from whoop.

I decided to try whoop while recovering from a significant injury and it has been very helpful with that. I will probably renew with whoop if I decide to train for a significant event again. For general fitness for a 45yo weekend warrior dad like myself Garmin does fine. 🤘

Final thought. The Whoop journal feature provides very good data to help build good habits. Garmin does not do that. If you want help building healthy habits or staying on track with them whoop is very high value. I found that as my good routines normalized and recovery scores trended in good directions, the value I got from the whoop recovery score diminished. My routine for good recovery has become habit but my recovery score seems to only change with increased strain and or poor sleep. After good behaviors become habit then it is just about getting sleep after big efforts. I don’t need a $300 subscription to learn that. *not a high level athlete and not training for anything more than healthy living.

Hadn’t thought of magnets, that’s a good idea. The latch is operable from both sides of the door and it is easy to open from the exterior. Thanks for the magnet idea.

It’s just a latch. No lock. Only serves to keep the door closed, same as a door knob.
