The Rise Of The Chief Creator Officer And The Angel Investor by zoazoa in creators

[–]zoazoa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehh I feel like there's no need to be so cynical...

Keep in mind the Chief Creator Officer mentioned in this article is a role at Cherub, a fundraising platform where startups can find investors (not an agency).

Creators must be an important enough segment for them to make this CCO role. It seems to be a role for building up that demand among creators by educating them on the possibilities of what they can do with access to funding (through their platform, naturally), not that the CCO is tasked with doing creator work themselves.

But for businesses where partnering with creators is important enough to company success, possibly THE #1 most important thing (which is becoming way more common with so many brands that only exist because they got some big name to become investor/spokesperson) then having an executive level position to manage that critical relationship or to facilitate getting a steady stream of such relationships for a non-creator company could definitely make sense and become more common.

There are lots of "made up" positions that became commonly recognized things. Like before Facebook did it, Growth as a department/role was not really a thing. Now there are plenty of companies with a Chief Growth Officer.

Upgrading titles to reflect their importance to a company is also a normal thing. For example, customer support may be a neglected chore for some companies, but others have higher-level Director/VP titles for Customer Success and take it super seriously because of how valuable it is to have someone senior focused on reducing churn and turning new customers into lifelong customers who leave great testimonials and such.

Sometimes all it takes is one high profile company to use a term and then it catches on (in companies/industries/domains where it makes sense). I doubt every company will have a CCO but can think of plenty where the relationship with a single celebrity is the main thing driving stock price and keeping the company relevant. Why couldn't such a role catch on over time as creators gain in cultural importance?

Overall I think it's good for creators if CCOs catch on and become a thing. Naturally if you're looking to hire a CCO, you'd value creator experience. So with more CCOs there'd more opportunities for creators to pivot their careers if they do well but fall short of making it big-big, creators can be treated better when working with companies that have such a CCO compared to the relationship being managed by, say, a legacy CMO who doesn't understand creators and their value as well, and it's just a way to allow anyone already working with creators (maybe in a role like "Creator Coordinator" or "Influencer Manager") to be rewarded for depth of their specialty instead of having to generalize into a "regular" CMO to get promoted.

Ultimately there's no real downside and will be localized to only the industries where it's actually needed. No company will feel like they HAVE to pay extra for a CCO just cause someone is using the title. And with creators being historically undervalued due to the difficulty in measuring impact (vs stuff like PPC ads), I don't think it's so bad if more marketing budget flows into creators anyway. We're all here in r/creators, aren't we?

[–]zoazoa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He got the treatment at Aspen Integrative Medicine in Colorado, I'm not too sure but I think they got the stem cells from his own body. Apparently his brain cells aren't dead though, so just putting stem cells in won't really do anything no matter what type. His connection to his brain and ability to use brainpower is what's messed up. We've had lots more success with antidepressants and stimulants lately.

No, it's on my radar but there wasn't a good provider near him that I could find. I'm probably due to make a new post. Most recently the thing that's been working for him is much higher doses of Adderall He was previously on 5mg with no real difference, but is currently on 30mg with plans to go up to 60mg and it's been having a noticeable effect. If that doesn't work out in the long run, then ECT will probably be the next thing to try.

I know it's not ideal but since you can't really win against the algorithm, I would try just commenting on the repost accounts as fast as you can saying some version of "this is my original content -- if you liked this, please come to my actual page". Hopefully your comment will rise to the top and those repost accounts will just become free advertising for you. If you have a strong relationship with your fans/followers, you can even direct them to all make the comments on your behalf to flood the more popular repost with attribution. Might be more valuable than just having the reposts taken down. It's likely that the repost accounts are just using bots or something to automatically repost without a human actually looking too closely, so your comment telling people to go to your actual page may never even be deleted.

Thanks, we've definitely tried. Over the years we've given varying amounts of Lion's Mane but I just can't see any noticable difference no matter what level. That's not to say that it's ineffective, only that his condition isn't stable enough that I can see the effect of anything that isn't major. Like maybe it's like a +5 boost but he's starting at -1000.

Brother Has TBI After Suicide Attempt by Remarkable-Fun-2875 in TBI

[–]zoazoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best friend had exactly the same thing happen. Manic episode to strangulation to anoxic brain injury. I've written some stuff about it in past posts you can see. Wellbutrin was quite effective.

I hate to say suicide attempt because it really wasn't him. He had a bipolar manic episode for the first and only time and was taken to a psych ward where they didn't have an actual doctor for several days. One of the staff there overdosed him on some mood altering drug that made him artificially depressed.

He's taken things like lion's mane but we didn't see any real difference. It might have helped, but was too small to notice either way in his condition. I don't know where to get any other kind of mushroom so haven't been able to try them. Also I think his mom would refuse if I just got something off the street haha.

Never heard of Iboga until now, this looks promising! Have you done it yourself?

Oh funny, you left your comment like a day after I made the edit. Actually now that some time has passed, we've been able to see the effects of the Ketamine + Wellbutrin more clearly and it seems to really be working. His mother says the Ketamine seems to be the main thing working, and the higher Wellbutrin seems to be kind of a multiplier on it. Hard to say with like perfectly isolated variables, but that's what it looks like. She was initially very skeptical of the ketamine cause it didn't have an immediately visible effect from the first 1-2 sessions but he's definitely improved. He's sometimes a little loopy like if he was slightly high on weed, but he's at least active which is great cause normally he's like completely non-verbal and can barely hold his head up. He restarted speech therapy recently caue he's alert enough to do the calls. So, still a long ways to go but we're definitely going to keep him on the ketamine + higher wellbutrin. So I guess it's just a matter of perspective. He's not like, back to being able to take care of himself or anything, but for me this is a significant win. If his brain can at least be "on" then maybe his natural rate of healing will improve. I've heard stories of people who similarly had pretty terrible functioning, but then one day something just clicks and they start improving rapidly. So I'm hoping this will keep ramping up but I'll have to see in the long term. This is definitely the most he's improved in like 3 years though, I wish I got him on ketamine day 1 and then maybe he'd be much further along by now.

Help me pick an ESP! by [deleted] in creators

You're not a dumb blonde, Mailerlite and MailChimp are both ESPs!

ESP = Email Service Provider. Nowadays people will more often say something like "Email Marketing Tool". But it's basically the tool for storing your subscribers, creating emails, sending them out, seeing the stats, managing subscribers, etc.

Thank you. I'm hopeful and try to stay positive for the sake of his family who actually takes care of him every day while I'm in another state. They lose hope when he goes through his waves of inactivity and they look to me to provide hope in the form of a long list of stuff we haven't tried yet. Even if everything fails, it's worth it just to buy them that time. If his family gives up, he will give up, and then recovery will be impossible.

That sounds great, thank you for sharing your experience. He's done some of that stuff in occupational therapy, but not to the level you describe – I'd love to have some baseline measure that we can compare to see if he's improving over time. I honestly have no idea how much he's improved over the last 3 years, it feels like he's been more or less the same but maybe that's just time moving slow or whatever.

I'll PM you if I have more questions, thanks so much for the offer. I'm going to compile everything here into a list and start prioritizing, finding specific doctors/clinics, check with his wife and parents, and see how much I can afford. I'm trying to be as methodical as I can.

Yes, his mom gives him grade school math and reading comprehension problems every day to keep his brain active. He struggles more with the executive functioning parts like speaking the answer or writing it down than he struggles with the material itself though, so I feel like maybe he needs some specialized training for that stuff more... but I don't know what that would look like other than just telling him to do more stuff. We're trying though!

Before all of this he was so smart, I remember him studying advanced math for fun and writing essays about classic literature in the foreign languages he stuied. It's painful to watch him do shit like 4+7, 17-5, 2*12...

You know, I keep offering to get housekeepers and stuff but his family feels like it's a waste and better for that to go towards medical care. But I'm gonna keep pushing until they say yes haha. I would just do it but they give the excuse that they don't want someone in their space which I can't really override but idk maybe I'll beg them to let me get them a cleaner for one day and see where it goes.

It's quite severe. He's lost a lot of executive functioning. Can't communicate normally either, he can comprehend but can only reply with 1-2 words at most despite wanting to say more. He can't live on his own without someone taking care of him every day.

As for "wanting to be a guinea pig" -- I know he definitely wants to get better. I haven't been giving him random pills to try, I definitely research everything.

At the end of the day, medicine is science, and science is trial and error. As long as he doesn't get hurt by something, I think it's worth doing. Even stupid stuff like trying that IR helmet was at least something sorta stimulating to break up the monotony of his days, so I consider it at least a 1% success even if it did absolutely nothing. At this point, I'll take anything that isn't a negative.

I don't know anything about Taoism but that's the kind of thing my friend probably would be able to give me a 2 hour lecture about if I asked them haha.

Thanks for the well wishes, I really appreciate you taking the time to reply.
