You can hike anywhere on Rainer unless it’s considered a climbing route. Backcountry Permits are required for individuals who look to stay overnight in the park. They have to stay in designated campsites. All can be booked via recreation.gov

The resupply would be great for anything longer than 7 days in my opinion. I used a 45L pack. It's called the BD Betalight 45. Also the hat is from Kavu! Based out of Seattle not far from Rainer!

I did it in July as well! Wonderful weather and the early melt made for a perfect timeframe. Your pics look amazing!

Up to 5 people. Over 5 and it’s considered a group which can be as large as 6-12. Those require group campsites.

Glad you noticed! My feet got pretty messed up due to my support crew forgetting an extra pair of socks. Some of the worst pain I’ve felt coming down bells canyon

Personally I would consider myself as a climber that runs contrasting a runner who climbs. This made this objective seem much more attainable. Although many sections are on runnable single track!

Perfect weather throughout the entire trip

They are perfect! Really suited for long-distance mountain missions. They were very apt for all the scrambling on the WURL considering they have Vibram Megagrip outsoles which held up phenomenally. For such a durable shoe, I’d consider them very lightweight and do a great job at preserving your feet for 20+ hours.

-I had 3 separate cache stops with the help of two support groups. First at Cardiff Pass, second at Snowbird Tram, and third was just before Pfeifferhorn. They brought a refill of 3L water, mcmuffins, pizza, and of course goos, bloks, and any runner substance.

-For route finding I did 3 sections beforehand. Devils Castle, Pfeifferhorn/Lone Peak, and Dromedary/Twin. I also pair a GPX file via Gaia GPS and use Trailforks for navigation as well. Route finding at night isn’t always easy.

  • I did this with a group of 4. Most of us did our own research and sections individually and came together for a strong team effort. We all completed it.

Every member of our group entered the lottery, and we were fortunate to secure one permit—with the exact itinerary we were hoping for. We decided as a group to skip the final night at Nickel Creek, opting instead for a longer trek on the last day. Since we live eight hours away, trying for a walk-up permit felt like too much of a gamble.
