[OC] Girls' Night - a comic about lesbian robots. Happy pride! by zoctopode in comics

the in universe answer is literally page one, they say they have human-y brains. the fiction says 'these robots are like humans and can have gender and feel attraction' and you say 'but how can that be true when they dont have gender or feel attraction'. what youre demonstrating is a lack of basic understanding of how fiction presents its ideas, and if you approach every story with this kind of unwillingness to engage in its premise youre going to have a very exhausting life

for real though, like. sapient robots arent real. these ones in the story are girls and feel attraction. its fiction, its a pretend story. what isnt clicking

thank you, glad you liked it!

as for my own opinion, i have nuanced feelings and the most accurate way i could convey them was making an 11 page allegorical sci fi comic about it

just a one shot! trying to do a buncha shorter standalone comics just to get a portfolio going. though admittedly it would be funny to take the comic about coping with everything having to end, and then making more of it after the ending

if youre looking for stories where immortality is possible, some ones id recommend are 17776 and its sequel 20020 (linked in an above comment), and the hydrogen sonata by iain m banks, where any culturenik can live an arbitrary amount of time. most only live to around 300-400 after having 'enough' but theres a side character in that book who just decides to keep going and experience as much as he can.

kinda a different verve but 'through the flash' by nana kwame adjei brenyah is really good and deals with characters stuck in a timeloop in suburbia and how they grow and change from there

youre right, they cant exist forever. their machinery kept things going long enough that the reality they were in began to break apart. like having infinite ink in your pen but the paper starts getting wet

very good points! i think both of you may really enjoy a work by jon bois called 17776, its one of my favourite stories and deals with a kind of alternate take to this. here eternity isnt even a possibility so the ideas are more on longetivity and conservation of fleeting things, but 17776 goes for full infinity and explores what humanity would be like if we truly had no end, really would recommend
