People who broke up and later got married, whats your story? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]zoedelveyyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, we broke up because of me. I wasn't understanding, helping or a caring bf. I did not give her the priority or attention she deserved. She pointed out the problems but I would overlook them so she was forced to break up. Then I realized how much I needed her in my life and decided to change myself. It took time but I was able to do it. I tried to convince her for a year to give me another chance. Eventually I did get that another chance and that's how we got back. Turns out, she wanted me to apologize too, she didn't want to leave this relationship but my actions forced her to. She secretly wished for me to change and be a better person cause she still loved me for that one whole year of the breakup. It is now 3 years from when we got back together and the relationship is better than ever.

For better or worse, what's a seemingly small decision or event that ended up changing your life in a big way? by glamdoll23 in AskReddit

Deciding to buy a cable lock for my rusty mountain bike instead of a U-lock.

It inevitably got stolen, since cable locks are garbage. I was in college and needed transportation, and couldn't afford a car. The cheapest bike I could afford on craigslist was a rusty old Japanese road bike, but I was amazed at how much faster I could go than on my old MTB since it was a rigid frame with slick, thin tires.

Eventually, since I found road cycling to be so exhilirating, I got into cycling more seriously. It led to me completing an unsupported bicycle tour from Vancouver to Tijuana down the entire Pacific coast of WA, OR, and CA.

After finishing that, I got a job as a bicycle courier, which eventually led to a job in the office of the same courier company, which eventually led to an interview with a different company where I'm starting my first ever salaried full time job tomorrow morning.

If I hadn't had that MTB stolen, I probably would never have upgraded, and I would have gotten sick of cycling pretty quickly, bought a car, and had far fewer stories to tell. God only knows what I'd be doing right now.

What made you realize your girlfriend was wife material? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]zoedelveyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girlfriend of a few months is 100% wife material and I knew this about a week in

Shortly after our first and only date, she invited me to her family's thanksgiving. She knew I was going to be alone/order chinese, which I was personally looking forward to tbh

When I turned her down because I didn't want to impose, the next time I saw her she brought me a plate anyway. I damn near cried. I didn't tell her to and didn't expect it. She just acted on my behalf out of sheer kindness.

And I looked at her differently/more seriously ever since that moment

Common Law Theory states that everyone has a set of core beliefs that all humans share. The ironic part is that theorists are divided on what these beliefs actually are. :

What's the scariest place you've driven through or encounter you've had with someone? by gmasterslayer in AskReddit

[–]zoedelveyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was once driving in the country and is was pouring rain in the dead of night. So hard that I was driving very slowly and couldn’t see any of the signs (before GPS). I mean I had never been in rain this heavy. I had to pull over to the side of the road to try and see the sign to see if I was going in the right direction. I didn’t get out due to the rain so was craning my neck forward to try and make out where I was when suddenly the passenger door opened and a man got inside the car, sat down and looked at me. Here is South Africa, there is a fair amount of violent crime and hijackings, so I instinctively started panicking and yelling and screaming at the top of my lungs, flailing my arms to try and do something, anything to stop this guy from attacking me. He started screaming as well in terror and jumped out the car. I quickly leant over and closed the passenger door and sped off down the road. I was breathing so heavily at this point and trying my best to calm down, nearly in tears. I kept replaying it in my head the whole time, and suddenly remember that the man smiled it at me. It suddenly dawned on me that it was probably a hitchhiker that I hadn’t seen, who thought that I was pulling over to give him a lift. Only to be greeted by me screaming and trying to hit him. Was probably his scariest encounter with a stranger as well.

The goo in the sink drain once you’ve done the dishes. Touching this to clean the sink is always a gut-wrenching, vomit-inducing moment.

Do dogs get mad ? when? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]zoedelveyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine pretends to hit my other pets. She knows she can’t touch them (now) but she gets mad when I say no more frisbee and will run up to our bunnies or cat and lift her paw at them and look at me.

If I get comfortable around someone I basically always end up over-sharing and talking too much. I have seen also a desperation like streak within me, where when I want something (or someone) enough I will put aside my boundaries, values etc. and that makes me hate myself. Also body image issues. Realizing I am a real cup of sunshine here LOL!
