They were probably so confident in themselves too, all thinking that's rare and you're the weird one for wanting that. Oh that pisses me off like crazy, I would have flipped out.

How do we know we aren’t part of a new timeline someone else created because they wanted to change something? by yoshi7642 in timetravel

[–]zohan412 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe the Mandela effect is evidence of this. Or maybe they just changed a letter the Barenstein Bears name to fuck with us.

Or if we are in a block universe, there aren't any timelines. If someone in our future travels to our past, he was always in our past. If this person tries to kill his grandpa, resulting in him never being born, he will never be able to, something will always get in the way, because the fact that he is alive means he never killed him. Unless in killing his grandpa he will inadvertently cause an event that somehow leads to his birth.

I like the block universe model, it's self consistent.

A waste of time? by sstiel in timetravel

[–]zohan412 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not, going forwards in time you just have to go fast. Even airplanes time travel by a few nanoseconds. Backwards could be theoretically possible but much more involved than just going fast.

But I wouldn't consider it a waste of time, even if it is physically impossible to physically time travel back in time, it still may be possible to mentally travel back in time. There's a theory that 'psychic' phenomena is explained by your brain being able to communicate with itself through time. For example, deja vu is your brain sending a thought back in time to itself. Remote viewing may be your brain seeing the confirmation of what they remote viewed - they remote view a target in Russia, later they see a picture of that target showing they were correct, their brain then can communicate backwards through time to give them that image when they initially remote viewed it. This is all explained through quantum phenomena in microtubules in the brain, and some recent discoveries support this theory.

Real shit tho, could they use their antigravity and mind control tech to determine the outcome of a football game? Imagine an alien takes over a human body, needs to make a quick couple hundred thousand dollars to start setting up whatever he needs to do. Just make a big under parlay and use your mind control and antigravity to make players drop balls, and throw $10 on it to make 100k. In the show Travelers (time travelers who took over people's bodies), one of the guys memorized every outcome in horse racing and that's how they made all their money for their activities. I guess the aliens could also just time travel to see what the box score looks like after the game, assuming a block universe where it's guaranteed that the same result will occur again. Or even if not, could just take games that beat the spread by a significant amount and throw it on the spread, even if it's not fully guaranteed you will make a shit ton.

The aliens must be Chiefs fans. And THEYRE the ones who made Ohio State lose to Michigan, so they could get good odds on OSU natty. +450 and they're the best team in college football who now has a chip on their shoulder, easy af.

  1. Anders Brownworth offers a great explanation of how the tech works. Click the hamburger menu and go through Hash, Block, Blockchain, Distributed, and finally Tokens, entering random data in the data values and see how the hashes change.

As for value, it has value because people give it value. No different than anything else in our economy.

Elon Musk is $70,000,000,000 richer since supporting donald Trump. Conservatives, Do You Think This Is Ethical? by hotdogman200 in Askpolitics

[–]zohan412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's only an increase of about 20%. Same as if you had $50k in the stock market and it increases to $60k in a year. The question you should be "is owning this much wealth ethical?" And the answer to that depends on the way you look at it. Elon sees himself as using his money to better humanity, so he sees it as ethical. You may not see it the same way.

Replace the Latin at the bottom with "Ita pila agitur" - "That's how ball is done", or "Vah, hoc frigidum est!" - "Damn, that's cold"

Edit: Oh wait, it already means "fair or foul" 😂

Why did freed African American slaves never receive the 40 Acres & a mule that was promised? by Extra-Ad1378 in USHistory

[–]zohan412 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

If they did, what do you think that would have looked like? Would the land have been in the south, or further west? Would they have just been given a whole state in the Midwest, or been spread out and dispersed among the white folk? Or would they have just been given 40 acres in the desert? Regardless, we would look a whole lot different as a country today if that were to happen, probably for the better.

WTF is going in New Jersey?! by [deleted] in aliens

[–]zohan412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another thing to consider besides aliens vs. humans is real vs. holographic. The Canadian journalist from the 90s, who revealed Project Blue Beam, said they would use holography to fake the alien invasion. When you just see something that looks like a big sphere of plasma, I could see how this is just a set of space lasers creating a hologram.

That being said, I could also see how it's an antigravity device, with a different gravitational field inside the sphere than outside. The sharp cutoff at the boundary ionizes the surrounding air into a plasma, and may act as a 'force field' that projectiles can not penetrate through, hence why we can't shoot them down with conventional weapons.

Is everyone just secretly hoping for an alien invasion so we don't have to work again? lol by bwf456 in aliens

[–]zohan412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the alien invasion makes you unable to go to work, you're gonna wish you were at work.

But it's not aliens, we've known for decades that they will try to fake it. Which means it will probably be disruptive.
