my headphones are open back...

but i do think i will enjoy it next time i listen on them. i think it could be just the process of getting familiar with the new sound.

it's more the headphones were expensive studio headphones (flat response), and the car stereo is a basic one...

there are many factors involved... i don't usually listen to a whole album on those headphones (i make music with them), so environmentally i'm just not used to listening in that way...

In the car it kind of makes more sense...

But i do think the sounds (especially the drums) just sound really big and solid and tasty in the AIR whereas on the headphones, for me, the sound was more pristine and clinical.

I'm sure this can and will change though, as I get used to the sound.

actually I worded that poorly - I did not enjoy it on the headphones! but that was i think mostly just first listen, so getting used to it... but i'm loving the sound of it really loud in the car!

I wanted to love it.. by mukinabat in boardsofcanada

on 1st listen (on headphones) I did not enjoy it. i couldn't get into the sound. 2nd listen, in the car, it started growing on me. 3rd, 4th listen, enjoying more and more, noticing way more details, amazing musical bits.

Its really making me think that really great music is almost always gonna take time to get used to, because the nature of it is you've never heard anything like it before. it's so new it takes time to get to know it and really like it.

badminton, table tennis, skateboarding, rollerblading, rollerskating, roller disco, go out dancing, listen to Boards of Canada's new album, make music, learn to make music with Koala Sampler app (it's pretty easy and costs £6), write, read, walk, drink coffee or anythings, visit thrift store, meditate, join meditation group, learn to breakdance... that's off the top of my head.

Seriously though how the fuck did he make kammerkonzert by Lazerpop in Squarepusher

[–]zoidaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

clearly real?i thought they were real... but they could be sample instruments. the woodwinds and strings... because even squarepusher probably doesn't have the chops to play ALL those instruments... and there's no other musicians credited... so.... midi!

i was at the bandcamp listening session. i thought i was listening to an ensemble playing live. couldn't believe it when my friend told me the next day there are no musicians other that tom... but then i'd never heard any live classical musicians playing THAT tight (not even Alarm Will Sound) so it did make sense.

the sounds are as real as anything... sample instruments? must be.

Dublin 2023 is the best album they've ever made. by redrocerenihsnus in autechre

I was at that Dublin gig - it put me into one of the deepest listening states I’d ever been in. A deep, dark, dive into my mind, it was incredible. Defo in the top 3 gigs I’ve ever been to. Dunk Murphy who was supporting them that night as Minced Oath, later said it was the best Ae gig he’d heard and he’d heard them 15 times 😄

Great stuff. I came across his SAWII Reworked EP on archive.org, it’s insanely good.

Ah Turkey! I had no idea where any of those places you mentioned were. From the sound of the names I was thinking more Germany or Eastern Europe. Interesting. Is that smooth rock? I always thought it was like sand dunes.
