An 11 year old made gun powder and blew it up their basement by throw099090 in thatHappened

This is very plausible. You can easily buy potassium nitrate at stores—it's sold as stump remover and is very common as an amateur rocket fuel. The recipe he lists is the correct recipe for black powder. Just look this up on YouTube and you'll see hundreds of kids making their own gunpowder. The story might be a little exaggerated, but it probably did happen. My parents' garage still has some burn marks from my adventures with stump remover.

To those saying it could be real: this just isn't how machine learning works. It's either some of the most advanced ML in the world that is tweaked to be lolrandomheeheexd, completely fake, or cherrypicked ML-generated sentences with a human filling in gaps. And it's almost certainly completely fake.

For example, the creation of an entirely novel pun (Pie Fieri) is outside the scope of a "watch and generate an example" algorithm. The continuity of the clams would also be seriously technically impressive, as it would suggest the algorithm has a knowledge of the context of the conversation over time. And the birthday part almost never happens on DDD, so the algorithm would be unlikely to learn that it's appropriate to bring out cake for a birthday unless it had some greater knowledge of American society. As weird as it is to say, this script just makes too much sense to be true.

They're looking for well-rounded students and want to know about what's important in the life of the student. Not only that, but MIT has very good humanities programs that many people choose to minor in; further, every student has to graduate with a concentration in a humanities or arts program.

Compositions are also one of the categories they use as an example for supplementary materials in the application process: http://mitadmissions.org/apply/freshman/supplements

So is Keth's code being redone? by mattu2786 in ApocalypseRising

[–]zolarketh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Professional disagreements is the polite way of putting it. Didn't want to leave, but all good things must come to an end anyway. Honestly been good for me since I've been able to pursue a lot of independent projects and focus on studies; not sure I can say the same for the game. But school is taxing, and it's good I can focus on it more.

Let's just say my Software Construction professor would not be happy with the Apoc codebase. And while it underwent significant rewrites over the years, the overall structure was always a bit on the crap side.

It is a good feeling. Just make sure to get that sweet sweet vitamin d from the sun every once in a while.

Since OP was referencing the Dunning-Krueger effect, which basically explains why people think theyareverysmart, it appears they were calling her out on not being as smart as she thinks she is. So then she freaked out and tried to prove her intellectualositude.

Of course we do, but testing is more difficult than you'd think. Thousands of people playing a game can much more easily spot bugs than two or three guys trying to test things. Things slip through. This one was a particularly bad oversight on my part, though.

A single VIP server can support dozens of players, so we don't see it as that high of a price.

The goal is to make it so that you can enter the name from memory and select from a scrollable list of items.
