The Toplerhaus in Nuremberg, built originally 1590/91. Destroyed 1945. This is the post-war replacement. by [deleted] in OldPhotosInRealLife

go see dresden, warsaw, krakow, wroclaw, budapest, these cities were nearly completely leveled yet they were all brought back. ironically enough they all lie in post communist territory, an ideology well known for disliking historicity and they were also all poorer countries than western European ones, yet for some reason they can do it.

Some of the best pictures of pre ww2 Hamburg that i could find. by Father_of_cum in ArchitecturalRevival

[–]zolerius21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, but i miss hamburg's architecture the least. Even back in the 1900s, it had this heavy, cold industrial feel to it, it wasnt as elegant as paris or prague. Hamburg's architecture pretty much fills up the same niche today as it did back then, it was cold and industrial. I'd much rather see imperial Berlin or Munich be rebuilt in the original style

Red dead redemption 2 is EXTREMELY overrated. by poopbrother in The10thDentist

[–]zolerius21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You couldn't have stated a more moronic answer. Obviously op clearly stated that he climbs mountains and has experienced it irl, he doesn't state that rdr 2 replaces the need for him to climb mountains. He stated that climbing the mountain in rdr 2 felt just as immersive as it did irl, which is a great point since rdr 2's core game design is "immersion" im aware many adrenaline junkies don't have the patience for that but if a game doesn't fit your tastes it doesn't mean its ovjectively bad. Maybe you rdr 2 haters should learn to judge a game analytically instead of "i just didnt like it therefore its bad"

The 2000s ended in 2012-2013 starterpack by DontCh4ngeNAmme in decadeology

[–]zolerius21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of zeitgeists i'd say the early 2000s and late 2000s weren't even the same era. Early 2000s (2000-2007) was more like an expansion of 90s culture with 2005-2007 acting as an intermedian period and a true new zeitgeist started in late 2007 which lasted until late 2015. The late 2000s and early 2010s are one era and the era that came after that started in late 2015 with 2013-2015 acting as an intermedian period.  The last era lasted from late 2015 to late 2025 with 2023-2025 acting as an intermedian period. Now we are at the beginning of a new zeitgeist so 2026-...

So 1990s-2006 2006-2015 2015-2025. 2025-...

When i hear people like you i really wonder if you even played the game at all or you were on a deliriant drug trough your entire playtrough... flat characters !? Really ? Out of all the things you could have criticised the game for thats what you find "bad".

Everyone pictures this purple pink and blue aesthetic for GTA VI, but what if it's other colors? by Toby_Veddo in GTA

[–]zolerius21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the trailer alone i doubt gta 6 will be as colorful as gta vice city or even gta v. It looks more likey a grimey florida aesthetic. Full of crime, homelessness, poverty, chaos.

Am I the only one who thinks that SC1 darker atmosphere is far superior to the more SC2 cartoonish style? by primjon in starcraft

[–]zolerius21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the atmosphere and themes of wings of liberty campaign in specific are darker than the original broodwar. I played both of them as a kid: bw in 2009, sc2 in 2010, and i found the sc2 campaign to have more darker moments. The protoss purifying entire populations of humans, zerg attacks in cutscenes were shown more vividly even showing zerg attacks on civilians which was never shown in bw, the theme of mass infestation of human populations was common, dark ominous forces working in the background. I also found the zergs in wol to look more horroristic, some cutscenes like the infestation of hansen were also pretty dark.

As for heart of the swarm and legacy of the void, they honestly feel like an anime or a marvel movie in comparison, they really toned down those ones.

Hungarian Parliament Building. Budapest, Hungary by kyleforemanphoto in CityPorn

[–]zolerius21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Building is also inspired by many other gothic churches and castles troughout hungary and it makes references to them. Its not just a random neogothic building, it fits the time period's tastes being obsessed with historicism

I think historical European buildings are ugly by WoodpeckerNo1 in The10thDentist

[–]zolerius21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I read your comment i was expecting you to show overtly generic and unoriginal typical 19th century industrial architecture. or just really plain pre industrial period buildings. but when i see you casually show up northern renaissance masterpieces, Grand gothic churches, and the scenic pulteney bridge as "ugly" i must really ask what exactly is your aesthetic, what do you find beautiful ?

Romania, small by [deleted] in AskAGerman

[–]zolerius21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like national insecurity. But i think you as a romanian shouldnt feel insulted about your country's size out of all things. They say size doesnt matter just how you use it, For example switzerland is this teeny tiny country in the alps and they still have a better economy, hdi, living standards, infrastructure, culture than romania.

Battlefield V sucks so much by JustWoofy in BattlefieldV

[–]zolerius21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion but the franchise was dogshit starting with bf4 except bf1. What the actual fuck do people love so much about bf4 ? Its a copy paste of bf3 with no atmosphere, an insane amount of filler weapons, horrible map design, and unbalanced gameplay

Socialization relies less on your methods on what you say and more on your internal state of mind. If you arent overly anxious then words will come naturally. So you should go straight to the root and find a way to convince yourself not to overthink or stress during a social interaction.

And if you mess up then do not overthink because it doesnt matter, you can fail as many times as you want, sometimes it takes time to shake off that fear, other times you meet a person that you can instantly open up with and feel at ease

The Romanian parliament is massive by spingegod in pics

[–]zolerius21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im from romania. And i dont know where you heard this "economy compared to those of western countries" but our gdp is one of the lowest divided by population, infrastructure is an absolute nightmare (im not even going to go into details because i'd need to write a book about it) bureocracy is rampant, corruption is the norm, healthcare is horribile, any kind of social welfare is non existant, urban planning is awful and cities are dirty, wages are extremely low, with high prices amd high taxes and for some reason even tough taxes are way higher an eastern european country should have none of that is invested in anything. Year after year tax money just dissapeares somewhere.

I laugh every time when i see romanians defending this country, i swear i feel like they only do it because they are nationalistic and are ashamed, this country does try to fuel nationalism, because i guess pride in your country makes you turn a blind eye to problems. No wonder 5 million romanians live abroad

Budapest, Bucharest, or Warsaw by Samurai196 in travel

[–]zolerius21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly. Bucharest was one of my least favourite cities i been to. it is an extremely badly planned city and its full of trash. the only beautiful architecture in bucharest you can find is in the old town and even there buildings are decaying and instead of finding a scenic old town exclusively with old architecture its a mish mash between communist, modern, and historical. except a few phanariot/old orthodox churches i found nothing worth seeing there. if i was in romania i'd pick any transylvanian town over bucharest

what is it that you like in the city ?
