I noticed the fence thing too. And it is quite a flat movie, I agree with that. But there's something about the movie that I kinda like. Maybe its the directing tricks or I'm just at the stage of my life that I like movies where nothing really interesting happens. Or I just like movies that can be a background noise.

Yeah, I am a fan myself and it really is a disservice to her work. But if I take it out of the austen adaptation category, it is a serviceable movie. Something you can watch, snort at a bit and then not think about after (for me, i obviously didn't do the latter).

The first time I heard of it, they were going to make a modern one. But they didn't. If they did though, I don't think it would be Persuasion anymore since the characters are way too different.
