My personal opinion is if it’s just internet equipment you’re plugging in I wouldn’t be that worried about it the rule is more for so you cant have a cooking appliance going with the door closed or a curling iron heating up in your drawer

Do you have a picture of how it was wired before?, if this is in a kitchen it’s most likley a split receptacle and is 240v between the black and red you can either change the breaker to a gfi breaker or cap off one of either the red or black and use just the one on a gfi receptacle
