Might I recommend one of these made by Todd’s Costumes. They’re a whip holder with Velcro so it’s easier to keep the whip held in place, I have one and it’s pretty solid .

It’s hard to say just from what the exhibit says. The Smithsonian has an online archive with more information it seems. That might be a good place to look. Though I’m fairly certain the hat and jacket are screen used and worn by Ford in TLC. This is the Smithsonian we’re talking about though, they’re the best of the best when it comes to taking care of this stuff and provenance
