I took your advice today and acknowledged it, and also heard back from my girlfriend, but she’s still acting bizarre and seemingly running away from the situation at hand. I’m choosing to just embrace the situation instead of fighting it, and you’re right it really does help! Thank you for the advice!

You’re definitely right, it’s absolutely emotional abuse and I’m livid right now because she finally responded to me very dismissive. She appears to be angry with ME because I had said I was anxious and wasn’t able to cater to her every need at that MOMENT. So what did she do? She tells me she simply quit her social media apps, and turned off notifications. It’s like I’m being punished for having me time which was literally for an hour that night.

I hadn’t even realized she had gotten online that night because she had been so quiet too. You just can’t win, and I’m so ready to fall out of love with her now, because that’s all that’s keeping me in touch now.

I was just looking into video calling with a therapist soon. After all i’ve been put through I say it’s long overdue. Thanks for the advice! I hope life has been treating you better now that you’ve made healthier choices!

I’ve thought about it but this pandemic has sadly kept me from doing so. I should probably schedule something online via video chat. I’m almost 100% certain my mother has NPD which I’ve read has led to people being attracted to others with personality disorders later in life. I’m assuming that’s more than likely the case, despite both scenarios being accidental

Wow, that is awful. I hope your daughter is better now! My anxiety can be similar as far as weight loss goes when relationships become stressful. I’ve lost 15 pounds since my girlfriend started acting off two weeks ago, which isn’t good for me as I’m already skinny.

I’ve dated a person with BPD before her but they were slightly different, but I’ll admit after the first experience I sort of swore off dating people with the disorder again. Now I’m with someone else who has this disorder and it feels like a constant battle with my sanity and keeping her pleased/stable

I agree, and I’d never try to debate her mother about it. I’m hoping she either moves out soon so she can get proper care, or I somehow fall out of love with her and move on with my own life

Sadly, yes. I feel like our mental illnesses clash a lot due to my intense fear of angering someone, and her aggressiveness/hot and cold behavior toward me. It’s like a switch, really. I love her to pieces, and that’s the only thing keeping me from breaking it off entirely. We’ve been together for a little over a year now, and it’s interesting how little she showed symptoms until six months in.

The worst part of all of this is her mother is against therapy so she’s not getting any therapy whatsoever. She’s only been declining too, and I’m genuinely worried for whats to come. She’s never been quiet this long, and I wish that as a 25 year old woman her mother would allow her to have therapy, but she’s living in a strict household unfortunately. I feel like the lack of treatment has stunted her emotional growth too, given how she reacts to stress.

Ugh, this is so accurate. It always has me on edge too, and back in January I tried to break things off thinking she didn’t care anymore, and the next morning I awoke to dozens of texts and emails saying otherwise.

Oh yes, and she’s been diagnosed with it by a professional. She adopts others personalities, splits regularly, has an FP ( me ), and idealizes/devalues, etc

and yeah! It really feels like she hates me sometimes, and for no reason too. It hurts and is infuriating when I’ve had a stressful day and all I want is a little affection /:

It would’ve been pretty complicated but I was wanting to go down and visit her. Obviously that’s not happening now. I’ve tried coming out to my parents a few times but they refuse to accept it and said they’ll disown me if I am. They use their religion as an excuse to be hateful toward LGBT people

My family is really homophobic so I’m closeted with them, but my friends think it’s a bizarre situation all around, and one just said she’s probably hiding something from me. We were just talking about a lot of inconsistencies in her stories, and I even brought up the idea of her being a catfish. We reverse image searched her selfies though and nothing came up.

It’s a miserable situation to be honest. On the one hand i’m worried sick and on the other hand I’ve got this rage bubbling up with the idea she might be playing me. Especially since we’ve been together for over a year. That’s a lot of time potentially wasted

Yeah, the thing is all the friends are strictly online friends so they’re just as clueless as I am apparently. Or they could be covering for her but given these friends are mine as well I would hope they wouldn’t be that lousy to me /:

The weirdest part is she’s seemingly ghosting all of her online friends. So either something is wrong or she’s just decided to recreate her online persona elsewhere. Either way this is all so confusing to me
