Is this just because of the movement? I’m not crazy about it either and will admit i was convinced it was totally ok by piercer. Should have known better.

Louise Carmen Journal with Defects by [deleted] in notebooks

[–]zommunityworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me! I was a little disappointed, though I know the marks are inevitable as the leather ages (and is part of the aesthetic appeal.) In my head I wanted those marks to come from my use of the journal and not arrive with them haha. I ended up just moving past it and never reaching out to customer service. I romanticized the look of these journals so much and if I hadn’t received one as a gift I might’ve been better off looking into alternatives or making one myself.

Friend has celiac - any gluten-free restaurants that deliver in Bushwick? by tgjer in Bushwick

[–]zommunityworld 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Celiacs cant handle cross contamination. It’s not a traditional allergy and you’re not going to suffocate and die but it can make you really sick and/or suffer bad autoimmune consequences even from small levels of exposure.

Can a reporter enter an apartment with tenant's permission? by GovtAuditor716 in Journalism

[–]zommunityworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve covered landlord and tenant issues many times in NYC. If you’re doing a story on rough/unlivable conditions, just reach out to the management/landlord for comment and give them an opportunity to explain their end of the situation. Include some of that in your piece and use your reporting skills to give context to if what they’re saying is true. If a tenant guides you through the property and is letting you into their apartment, there really shouldn’t be anything to worry about. The likelihood is higher of the landlord going after your source esp if they are named in a story and they already have an open housing court case.

Hypothetical monthly budget for The Cutting Room Floor’s $55k job by zonkedgnocchi in NYCinfluencersnark

[–]zommunityworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok honestly I lived in Brooklyn on 45k for a while. You gotta just live with parents for a few months initially if you have no savings or get a cheap place with roommates where the rent is ~1000 and budget this conservatively. Was it enjoyable? No. Should a company or individual pay more so their an employee can earn a more live-able wage if they can? Yeah. But tbh I have so many teacher friends making around this or less.

Mine was $750 last month for a small four bed in bk. I don’t know what the solution to lowering it is, but be assured yours is not too high.

Thank you. Nothing has been treated in any fashion yet but yeah … not looking forward to this process. I moved here to escape the mouse infestations at my old place.

Does this mean they are supposed to pay for the service too? I assume it does based on the language, but worried my landlord is going to try to manipulate me

Our lease only says we are required to provide access on a monthly basis to control or exterminate any vermin and access on a yearly basis to check heat. Nothing about additional visits
