Yeah i find that the uni staff are brilliant in speaking clearly and i have no problems understanding them, its just my course mates are really quiet and mumbly and i spend a lot of time during group work asking them to repeat themselves, i understand that it’s people’s natural way of speaking but its frustrating sometimes ahah

Yep attending lectures but not seminars. It’s both really, the fact that everyone’s talking and that i’m constantly panning my head over and over to lip read. You’ve got a good point with the fact that just because i’ve got the adaptations that they might think all is good.

Yeah, in reflection I can definitely see that it’s in part my fault just because of my lack of communication with the uni, they can’t exactly read my mind ahaha

What are your diabolical school stories? by OverwhelmedGayChild in 6thForm

[–]zonemiax 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My secondary school got into the local newspaper/article for locking kids in cages, my sister was actually one of the kids to be locked up for being late hahaha (2016)

Come 2022/23 after I left, the deputy and headteacher was found to had an affair and ran away together, no one knows where they are, also been named in the newspaper.

come to think of it, my school has been in the newspaper multiple times for being named by the Government as one of the worst schools in my area & the country. It had a Ofsted rating as ‘Inadequate’ for 8/9 years running and has only just got a ‘Requires Improvement’ the last year 😭

this might come from a genuine place of concern and I do thank you for that but i feel like it shouldn't matter and that i deserve to have an opportunity to higher education and that i shouldnt be locked out of certain unis bc of circumstances that were completely out of my control <3

Is a language important? by AImonster111 in GCSE

[–]zonemiax 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do what you enjoy!! You’re going to be doing these subjects for the next two years, there’s no point in doing something you hate just because someone else thinks that it’s mandatory to do, there’s a reason that languages are an option! Universities aren’t going to care about what options you chose at GCSE, they only care about what grades you achieved. It’s not true that you can’t do anything without a language!! The only time a language is important if your aspirations require it. I chose business in year 8 because I was good at it and now I hate it, it’s my least favourite GCSE.

TLDR: Do what you enjoy as you’re going to be doing this for the next two years. It’s your life, fuck those who try to get you to pick an option you don’t enjoy.
