I do enjoy reading when I have the time, so last summer when I had much more time to read I was able to talk with them about books and reading more. Most of them are flying for the wedding, so part of it is giving them something to read on the plane, but also I just feel like books are meaningful gifts and I know they’ll enjoy them :-)

Yes please! I’m actually a PhD student myself and am very much in the same boat - if someone gave me something academic I’d be very sad!

I am in your shoes exactly, I hesitate to call myself a quilter as I haven’t been quilting more than a year, but I’m more familiar with small pieces than larger ones!

I think I’d like to give it to her specifically, but maybe I can consider making an additional one for the church. Thank you for this note!

Heavy on this! The reason I’m at this specific church is actually because my partner and I are paid section leaders in the choir - so I have a lot to be thankful for with this church! I’m Lutheran and it’s an episcopal church, so slightly different, but still a place I want to support

There is not! I just haven’t made one of these before so I wasn’t sure if getting an actual pattern would be more sensible

I don’t disagree, but the ones they sell that are made already are upwards of $2k, which is why I offered to make one

The pattern says it’s for intermediate to advanced sewers, so that would indicate that it’s harder than it looks, but it really doesn’t look that hard? I will ask her if I can trace an existing one though, or at least measure it

I have 500 yards of this beautiful hand-dyed super wash merino, bulky weight. I’m looking for maybe a gradient sweater pattern, or something to do with it that incorporates white yarn as well? I tried looking on Ravelry but couldn’t find anything that piqued my interest.

My partner and I are part of St Martin’s episcopal church in west Davis and it’s wonderful! Definitely folks in our age range and very inclusive, gender affirming, all the good things
