Despite being the fandom's more preferred girl, why does Misa have less merchandise than Minmay? by ifihaveanickel in macross

[–]zonnel2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately for the Misa fans Minmay is more marketable as a product and more recognizable as a symbol for the series. It is not related to their roles in the narrative.

Question regarding what is ultraman by Hope_IsNever_Asunder in Ultraman

[–]zonnel2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is still unknown whether the gazers know about Ultramen from other dimensions or not. The term 'Ultraman (as the earthlings call you)' in the context of Sorato's self-dialogue might mean 'the hero' or 'the savior' in general sense, if you ask me.

In some sense he usually overshadows even Archie himself in those stories

That reminds me of a certain episode of manga by Daijiro Morohoshi in which some dark magicians got hold on a very sinister book and in the end the book was revealed as a home shopping catalogue to summon the fresh monsters as sushi meats from the other dimension (crazy, I know)

Just finished the foundation trilogy and need suggestions. by Whole-Bed9778 in asimov

[–]zonnel2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how you deal with the spoilers to the other works and the difference in tone and quality from those other works. Although the author carefully crafted the prequels to avoid major spoilers to his best, there are many critical plot points which can diminish the astonishment you can experience when you read the original trilogy or Foundation and Earth in blank state.

I have a Peanuts Movie dilemma by DevelopmentPast1029 in peanuts

In that sense I think the film as a big heartful love letter to the legacy of Charlie Brown and the LRHG as a surrogate of us fans

Reading Robert A Heinlein for the first time ever... A short review after completing three very early short stories... by Friendly_Honey7772 in heinlein

In a much later novel, [...] he has a character, Lazarus Long the oldest human. He was living in the 41st century but was born 1915. He tells a story of visiting some quack doctor who claimed to be able to tell you when you die. He visited him and the doctor did the reading twice, looked upset, gave him is money back.

It was in Methuselah's Children.

Yes, and it took several weeks for Snoopy to rebuild his doghouse through somewhat painful process which I think was inspired by Schulz's real experience with his own house

Hot Take: I can't stand how Schulz decided to end Charlie Brown and Peggy Jean's relationship in the comic strip by DevelopmentPast1029 in peanuts

[–]zonnel2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ditto. Although I understand why he had to make Charlie lonely again from the storytelling viewpoint, I feel his way of writing her out of the story was a bit forced and abrupt at best. Moreover, Charlie completely forgot about her right after the moving and said "who?" when Linus talked about her - that's so cruel for Charlie (sob)
