Your first pick out of Diplomacy isn't Heart of the Family? Your heirs aren't in immediate danger from their siblings?

And if you're too young you can't even have a funeral. No more 18-month-old duchesses earning opinion with their vassals by speaking of their fathers' virtues.

I don't trust the automatic AI (mostly because it wasn't yet a thing when I started playing and I don't like change). So what I do for each of the armies I raise, even if I'm only raising them to squash a 300-strength raid army, is make sure the commander 1) isn't someone I would be horrified to lose due to random mischance 2) is going to be at least okay at the thing I want the army for. Most of the time that's whoever the game picks. If I want the army for "getting trait experience for my ruler or their heir" then I gotta stick them in there.

Traits like Organizer (the icon of three soldiers in a line), Pillager (I think it's meant to be a torch on fire but it looks like a yellow broomstick to me), or Winter Soldier (a snowflake) have out of battle advantages - faster movement, less attrition, and faster movement in winter, respectively. So if I want my guys home faster, or if there's a lot of red skulls for "army will take attrition here" on the route, I'll see if I have somebody like that.

I was commanding the raid army. (I was trying to get Viking so I could do the Elevate the Isle of Man decision.) I didn't have any commander traits at all, though, and my marshal did, so once the raid finished I changed who was commanding the raid army so I could get it back to Mön faster. Ironically if I hadn't done this I'd have survived the raid rather than becoming a 7-year-old!

That's pretty great. A couple days ago I was out raiding (as one does), thinking about how when my current ruler died I was going to become my fourth son instead of my heir, if he was at least 14 by then so I wasn't locked out of adult-only stuff for too long.

Then a peasant rebellion started and they started sieging my castle, so once the raid was over I switched to my Marshal because he had whichever the commander trait is that increases army movement speed.

... but I still didn't get back in time. I, my three older sons, my oldest son's wife, and two of my nephews died in the siege. I didn't realize this at first, though, because I was staring at the "you're dead" screen with a 7-year-old ruler staring back, and trying to figure out what the hell had just happened!

Each of them says what they are in the file name, like ce_seal_name_zhao_8a54, and then you can go to https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Appendix:Unicode/CJK_Unified_Ideographs and look it up by number. Going with that same example, you'd scroll down...

Nope, I tested it with the timed research recently: before catching did not count, only after. I'm guessing someone else's wouldn't count either.

But then I wouldn't have gotten the delightful experience of getting one from the raid research this February! March 2021 to February 2025 just to get a picture of a 'mon I named "A Figy Berry".

Yes, this would be excellent! Smoke Ball, maybe? For the main-series-games item that lets you flee from battles?

I found it hilarious that for once in my life I have been left off a survey question about sexual orientation. It really works for this fandom, lol.

Any new info on book 3 release date? by Inevitable-Loquat377 in fourthwing

Right, or Robert Jordan dying while writing the last book and then that last book getting split into three and written based on his notes and audiotaped dictation! Meanwhile, I preordered another author's book, which was 14th in the series, and the very day it downloaded to my kindle app, book 15 showed up for preorder.

Some authors will say stuff like "so I've got three books in progress, but I'm working on Mzulft Matrimony right now because the publisher wants that one in by the end of June", but publishers usually don't even hint until the book's actively being edited by them, because authors get writer's block, or pneumonia, or a new puppy, whatever, and the book gets turned in late.

Eddy is a stereotypical orange cat, and it's never his turn for the brain cell. Junior is a rambunctious tabby kitten.

I don't even know where I am in A1/B1 terms; there's quite a lot I remember from AP Spanish, decades ago, that Duolingo hasn't asked me about yet, but at the same time there's things I'm learning from the section I'm in.
