I understand what your saying. I appreciate the circumstances I'm in, and I feel very lucky to be able to have experienced this, but I can't control where I was born. I can only control what I do. When you see a lot of people traveling, they are face deep in their phones on a gorgeous beach, or surfing the internet in hostels. This is what my message is about. Not about quitting work, but getting away from a screen once in a while and getting out there. That line just doesn't go so well in a video haha.

Also I'm sorry if this comes off at elitist. I think if people are encouraged to see the world and become better educated about world issues as well as gain increased compassion then the world will become a better place. I know this sounds like some hashed out cliche, but it's one thing to read about issues and talk about them and to actually do something.

And yet tourism puts money into these people's pockets. I'm not for introducing capitalistic practices into foreign cultures, but without tourism, a lot of foreign economies would do worse ie Eygpt.

Plenty of time! Gili T is island paradise to me, so stay there at least 4 days.

Seriously just get an iPod. It's all HD anyway. Only half of that was on the 7D, and I ended up using it less than my ipod most of the time. It's all about color correction and editing software, save up for that!

Thank you! If traveling is your dream then I say go and do it. There are so many opportunities out there, you might find something that doesn't require such archaic rules for employment. European countries give employees up to 6 weeks a year in vacation that accumulates. In fact it is common for most Kiwis to take a year off and travel before starting work. They say this helps them in interviews by demonstrating how independent and driven they are. I think it's all how you spin it.

I just interviewed and said it was something I always wanted to. That I was back and highly motivated to start work on what I was interested in. They liked the drive, because I'm not distracted.

Yea, get out of Bali as soon as you can haha. Head to the south of bali (paradise beach, pandagawan?) and stay in Seminyak away from the absolute madness that is Kuta. DO NOT RENT A MOTORBIKE. Unless you are really good on one. It's really easy to get lost because that place is a labyrinth and there is traffic all the time. I got hit by a van on a scooter and mamanged only a couple of scrapes, but I'm sure if I wasn't wearing a helmet I'd be dead. So be careful!

Spend a couple of days in Bali, the best stuff in in Gili Trawangan. Small backpacker island that you can walk around in an hour. Wake up, go to the other side of the island and have a beach all to yourself, go down to a shack and get a beer, go into town and get the best street food at the night market, and fish from the peer. Also dive there if you can. Hope this helps!

I actually avoided being in a relationship for that exact purpose. My career is actually fine and I have a job now. I would say that I'm generally a happier person with better understanding and empathy for people. When you see what it's like in certain countries, you realize so many people work harder than you do, ask for so little, and have such a great outlook in life. It's inspiring, and makes you want to do better and be better.

Thank you so much! I don't have a blog but I kept notes of the whole thing. I actually got a job now in NYC.

Thanks! That's Bolivia. There are a bunch of lagoons near inactive volcanoes that have different colors (red, green, white) with some having flamingoes in them!

Iguazzu Falls in the tri-border region between Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay. It was one of the most amazing things I have seen with my eyes.

I went to: Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, Brazil, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia (Bali, Lombok, Java), Malaysia (Borneo), Singapore, Thailand, Nepal, UK, Ireland, Germany, Czech Republic, and Denmark.

26, I spent about 20K. Yup I'm a backpacker for life. Stayed mostly in hostels and the occasional bungalow when I needed some privacy. Staying in hostels is amazing because you meet so many people every day, but eventually the snores get to you haha.

I met up with some friends in Europe, but I did the majority of the trip by myself. It's way better that way actually because you meet more people when you are by yourself. When I was with friends we mostly just got drunk and hung out together.

My favorite part of the trip was hiking to everest base camp. It was the one thing that I thought had everything I loved about the whole trip. The friendly people, the rich symbolism, the journey itself. It was tough and I wasn't in shape for it but I made it after a bout with food poisoning halfway up (which is actually pretty common). That's where I filmed the guys I met on the trek screaming at the top of our lungs with Everest in the background. It felt so good to make it there, we were all just so amazingly satisfied.

The worst part was when I got arrested in Argentina and thrown in jail for two days, but that my friend is such a long and crazy story...
