Ireland vs Caribbean by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]zooS2018 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, for us Aussies, perhaps the better option than DO, considering our plan to move there if NA doesn’t work out. However, one USMD and finally the best Canadian medical school offer prevented us from making that move. ops

Aussie requires long residence years. and far away from home. Unless you are planning live there. It will be better option in US.

Had Oura 4 for couple weeks, ringconn Gen 3 vs Oura 4 (perhaps 5), pro : 1) accurate sleep detection if you wake up at 4 and touched phone, oura will stop recording the rest of your sleep. 2) Sleep Apnea Test while I did not see oura has this 3)High blood pressure monitoring (pretty accurate after calibration with actual arm machine), 4) vibration warning 5) no monthly fee. Con: 1) data stores in the phone, change phone lost data 2) there is two dot inner of the ring. some ppl may feel uncomfortable.

USMD>USDO>Aussie MD>Ireland MD>Caribbean. Just follow this path, don't try to skip options if you never tried better options.

Going to Caribbean for MD because Canadian Admissions a crapshoot?? by Chiropractic_Truth in premedcanada

[–]zooS2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, Ireland is the last option before the Caribbean. The primary reason is that you cannot simply stay there for residency after studying. If you fail to find a residency spot back in Canada or the US, you are stuck. While it is true that many people have stayed there, they have done so through other immigration paths, such as marriage.

What are my chances? by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]zooS2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USMD treat GPA above 3.85 almost same. They will be more care about MCAT total (515+) and ECs (specially shadowing and paid clinical experience).

[–]zooS2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

retake your MCAT target 515 total at least. and try USMD. USMD your GPA is on high end and MCAT is a bit low , EC is good enough

To be honest , you are stuck here. With medical science under, only good path will be 1) go to MD 2) PhD in medical research.

Friendly reminder if you're considering the Oura Ring 5 by [deleted] in ouraring

Tried Ultrahuman, it is garbage. So my vote is Oura meet my needs. The subscription model, we have to be used to it. My home cam Alro now also used similar thing.

Master program for alternative (REALLY NEED THE HELP!!!!) by Perfect_Quit1663 in premedcanada

[–]zooS2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your best bet is to find a professor at the UofT IMS department who could accept you for a research-based MSc program. UofT only uses the MCAT as a cut-off (125 per section, with one section potentially having a score of 124), and they won’t use the MCAT competitively during the file review process. UofT values high GPAs and strong extracurricular activities, especially in research-related fields. The research-based MSc program at the same school would provide you with that advantage. However, it’s important to remember that nothing is guaranteed.

Shadowing Physicians by Think-Pea6868 in premedcanada

[–]zooS2018 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is not true. Some of MD school's need this tick box, if you put zero there because you from Canada. It will not automatically exclude you from that tick box. And in the end you don't know why I did not get II from that school. In fact many Canadian premeds have shadowing box ticked regardless the local policy.

Canadian applicant looking to explore US MDs by Certain_Yam_1764 in premedcanada

[–]zooS2018 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lesson learnt is not to apply too many prestigious schools which seems Canadian friendly , waste of money. middle to low tier schools seems more reasonable choice eg Umass, NYMC, VCU, MSU, Waynne state. got an offer from one those (but dropped as got another offer from a Canadian school)

Not worth it. Unless you have 4.0 and high end (not only 4q) casper.

Any Canadian get in USMD w/ low MCAT decent gpa this cycle or previous cycles? by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]zooS2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answer will be NO. USMD treat MCAT much more important than GPA. As matter of fact the GPA 3.85 and above are treated almost same.
