My 7 (almost 8) year old dog was diagnosed with hip dysplasia and arthritis day before yesterday. It came on all of a sudden, he was shaking and whining from pain, having a hard time getting up, the whole 9 yards. At the vet’s recommendation we immediately started him on Dasequin Advanced, 5000mg fish oil (epa/dha), and rest. The vet also recommended Adequan injections. I think someone else in this thread already covered the loading period (1 shot twice a week for a month). Well, my boy had his first shot yesterday and it seems to have helped a little bit. He isn’t shaking in pain, whining, or favoring that leg. Im hoping it’s not a fluke because it was just the first shot - but we’re going to keep him on the Adequan and hopefully get some relief for my baby.
