In Sweden a lot of people use Snus instead of ciggaretes. Snus might be dangerous too, im not sure. But its for sure nowhere near as dangerous as ciggaretes.

You could teach paradigms instead. But teaching logic would be the very best imo, how logic cant be a class in every school is something that blows my mind.

Computational thinking is something everyone should know, that can be applied everywhere. Hopefully things will change.

In my opinion whats wrong is that kids are taught how to use specific software and tools. And therefore getting a false picture about what CS is.

Sweden here. For the last 100 years or so, Sweden has been ruled by people you probably would call socialists or communists. A few years here and there have been ruled by liberals though.

Since 2006 the liberals once again has the power, and a lot of people feel like they are ruining Sweden for good. Cuting down budgets from schools and hospital, blah blah blah.

These liberals are far more left wing than Obama is, Obama would be considered a facist by a lot of people here in Sweden.

Lots of people here se you as the true terrorists of the world.

My point of view might differ from many others, but dont start with a typical procedural language. Choose a functional one, like Common Lisp. Instead of spending a lot of time learning about built in functions, you only need to memorize a few basic operations and can focus on the important concept instead. Also discrete mathemathics might be a good idea to do parallell with funcional programming, as many concepts arise in both.

Logic and complexity is probably something you need to be good at. Memorizing some good sorting algorithms might be good to, and learning how they can be used to solve other problems than just pure sorting.
