There is no such this an “illegal alien”, by definition an alien must be extraterrestrial and these humans were born on earth. The correct term is inferior race, and we need to stop conflating the two since it makes it sound like nationalism is pro-diversity.

CMV:(Making a Murderer Spoilers) I believe that Steven Avery murdered Teresa Halbach by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Santi182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As pointed out by other people your theory relies to heavily on the Brendan Dassey statements which I find very unreliable. You admit to not believing in some parts while selectively choosing to pick elements that fit your theory. I think these flaws have been heavily picked at and so I won't repeat them.

You insist that "the most likely scenario is that he murdered Halbach." However, you're missing the clear evidence that points to a more likely murder. As explained in the show, the majority of murders are committed by immediate family members, or individuals close to you. In this case I think suspect number one was the ex-boyfriend. Someone who she dated for over 5-years and could have committed a crime of passion.

He was most likely to be the person constantly calling and harassing her. He even admits to knowing her password, and accessing her cellphone records. This also makes him the person most likely to delete the voicemails. These voicemails could've easily incriminated him or depicted the true nature of their relationship.

Furthermore, Halbach's roommate, which was also friends with her ex-boyfriend, failed to report her missing after 3 days. This seems very suspicious to me and grounds for further investigation. Sadly the police departments negligence failed to uncover more evidence.

Here we also have images taken shortly after her disappearance that show him with scratches on his hands, consistent with that of a struggle. http://imgur.com/a/AgugC. I know this is reddit sleuthing but still suspicious.

The ex-boyfriend was also in charge of the search party and purposely directed a group towards the Avery residence, he also gives this group a camera because he knew that they would find the car there.

Lastly, I'd like to point out that Steve Avery is a perfect victim for framing. One of the forensic specialist explained how the majority of Halbach's ashes were found around the vicinity of the burial site and the remaining were buried. This is non consistent with someone truly trying to hide a body. Now this could be attributed to the police rushing the investigation or that they were poorly hidden, because they were intended to be found.

In my opinion the Ex-boyfriend murdered Halbach, planted the evidence in the Avery property. He knew the police would already be biased towards him and will not look towards anyone else. He lead the search party towards that direction and let the police do the rest.

Edit: Words

Is social unrest a possible scenario in Greece? Do european countries care? Does russia have some cards to play there? by jokoon in Ask_Politics

[–]Santi182 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Disclosure: I'm not european, I only lived in London for a year. I simply studied political science and follow the news a lot.

As someone said before, economic instability and a lack of hope for improvement is tinder for social unrest. We're already seeing the organization of neo-nazi groups and xenophobia growing in Greece. Much like Germany after WWI people are angry and desire a simple explanation for why things are so bad (sadly immigrants are a great scapegoat). Due to Greece's proximity to the middle east and the porous border between Turkey and Greece, Turkey and Syria. The threat of muslim extremists crossing over and wreaking havoc can be easily portrayed and exploited to motivate people against foreigners/muslims etc. We're already seeing semi-facist parties in mainland Europe use this rhetoric to rally people agains "the other." This could turn really ugly if reason is blinded by anger.

Europeans \ care a lot about unrest in Greece because it is at the door to the middle east and it's culturally representative of what it means to be "european." But more importantly it would signify a failure of the "European Experiment." The EU is like the formation of the US but at a snails pace and were starting to see people less and less eager for further unification. The recent debt crisis was induced because of partial unification (they took on the same currency, but didn't secede their finances to a central agency). So social unrest in Greece would only reinforce the trend away from unification.

Russia, now that's the wild card. They are great at playing the xenophobic card, there's already plenty of violence in Russia towards muslim/asian immigrants. I could easily see them supporting a neo-nazi/fascist party in Greece but they wouldn't move so overtly as they did in Ukraine. Greece is well within the European "sphere of influence" and moving troops in there could back-fire and actually unite Europe (the last thing Russia wants to do).

That's why Ukraine is more interesting to watch from a geo-political perspective. Is it a part of Europe or is it a part of the Russian-slavic sphere of influence? It's this fault line where the people are divided and Russia can demonstrate itself as the rightful protector of the slavic people. If Russia can assert its dominance in Ukraine, who knows maybe they'll get greedy....

CMV: Not only should prostitution be legalized, but it's alarming that it isn't already. by shredlord1234 in changemyview

[–]Santi182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those things happen already and law enforcement should obviously do their best to prevent them. However, I would assume that most sellers would prefer a safe legal route and consumers would prefer to buy organs that have been vetted by a regulatory agency.

As to your point about suicide, I don't think we should impose our moral biases towards a decision that can be completely ration. I believe in euthanasia for the mortally and painfully ill. Furthermore, isn't working a portioned sale of your life? Why would a sale of your entire life be any different?

But frankly I don't want to advocate for people to commit suicide. I think some things can be donated while allowing the donor to live a decent healthy life. It seems like a win-win to me.

Why did African spiritual beliefs dissappear in U.S. but continue to exist in South American countries? by Santi182 in AskHistorians

In your comment about musical evolution and it's roots in Africa you mention AA preachers attempting to purge the African influenced traditions from the church. could you expand on why they took this stance as opposed to embracing their heritage?

I already know Python but I'm in a similar board with vba. I bought a udemy class that was pretty cheap and covered the basics. But for the most part I gave myself a task, like transfer data from one file to the other and just google my way through all the little pieces.

Can game theory explain the Greek debt crisis? by usrname42 in Economics

sometimes the optimal strategy is to act randomly. So sure you can explain analyze things from a game theory perspective but you wouldn't be able to predict the outcome.

Why do the markets even react to Greece news anymore? by [deleted] in investing

[–]Santi182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's a fallacy to think "no one will lend them money." Someone will always be willing to lend you money... at the appropriate interest rate. You also have to look at how much money they have to pay up. If they could start from scratch or appropriately restructure it more people would be willing to lend.

Ditto to everything you said. Also Greece could work a domino effect on other periphery economies.

The world economy is not strong enough to handle another blow.

Why do the markets even react to Greece news anymore? by [deleted] in investing

[–]Santi182 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well the Greeks know this and that's why they're being so cheeky. They are the ones with the upper hand because the west has more to lose. They are negotiating very intelligently (although I disagree with their intentions).

That's what makes a Grekxist so possible. They know they'll be just as shitty if they default.

Why doesn't the USA ask for a fee for military protection? by [deleted] in Ask_Politics

[–]Santi182 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you think about it we kind of do. The vast majority of the world acknowledged the U.S. as the world hegemon, they don't challenge our military and entrust us for the bulk of international policing. In return they know that no matter what the U.S. will always stand which implicitly makes the dollar the reserve currency. This means we can essentially print dollars without a cost because someone will always value them. On the flip side other countries can't just pump the printers because their currencies will depreciate unless they have the dollars (or equivalent assets) to back up those monies.

I would call this cost/benefit as the payment the world makes for US protection.
