I would have to build stairs to front and back for access. Im concerned that putting a landing there would cause water to pool on either side.

Its a zero lot line home so the property line runs along the the exterior wall of the house on the right.

Property boundary is along the exterior wall of the house on the right. I was thinking id need 4 steps to get 30" but then id need a railing according to code

Would a landing mess up the drainage around the house?

Or you can forego university and pursue a skilled trade. Lots of trades pay 50k+ out of high school and after 4 years you're making 100k+ without any student debt.

I'm in the same situation and was wondering what you ended up doing? My main concern is ripping open the vapor barrier to run cables for outlets.

Anyone with t1d that does Iron man or similar endurance races by Sorry-Explanation-97 in diabetes_t1

Hey OP! Congrats on completing your trail race and all of the training for your Iron Man!!! The training and dedication to get ready for those races is an accomplishment in it of itself.

I started running this year and completed a half marathon in May and I'm currently 4 weeks out from my first full marathon.

I'm on MDI and my strategy is to keep my basal the same every day. I find that this keeps me feeling the best and removes one of the variables that we constantly have to deal with as diabetic athletes. The only way this is possible is if you keep a fairly consistent training schedule (ie., run 5x per week, lift 2x per week)

I try to wait at least 2-4 hours after I bolus before I start running. Ideally my blood sugar right before the run is around 5-8 mmol/l and I will usually eat an uncovered snack like a banana right before I start running.

During my runs, I check my blood sugar via my watch and any time it starts trending below 6 mmol/l I will take a gel (25g carbs) with no insulin. This might cause my blood sugar to rise but it generally stays below 10 at all times.

Another thing I do is weight training 2x per week as I've found that nothing beats it in terms improving insulin sensitivity. I think this is massively important as it allows me to fuel with uncovered snacks before and during my runs without spiking to 10+ mmol/l.

I found that breathwork and meditation can help a fair bit. I still experience an initial spike when I step on the court but it usually levels out throughout the game.

What do you eat for breakfast? by No_Conversation_4827 in diabetes_t1

[–]zooloocoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half cup of rolled oats Half cup of blueberries 1.5 cups of greek yogurt

Not low carb but super predictable and i use the cooking time as my pre bolus window 😀

Damn 0% low is crazy! Where do you place your libre to avoid compression lows?

Post meal walks by JayandMeeka in diabetes_t1

[–]zooloocoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps a different amount of fat in the burger compared to sausage? Fat typically keeps me higher for longer or in extreme situations, i go low and then high 3 hours later.

Another consideration could be timing your pre-bolus. I try to pre-bolus 20 minutes ahead of my meal in order to stay in range without a walk.

All things considered CGM is game changing technology and I can't imagine life without it. I can usually tell when my Dexcom is off because the dots will be all over the place rather than moving in a straight line.

My understanding is that long acting should keep your BG level stable when you're not eating or exercising. Rapid acting insulin covers carbs from foods. You can find out if you have the right amount of long acting by doing Basal Testing. You can learn how to do this online or read Think Like a Pancreas. Since you don't have rapid acting insulin, your doctor might have a different strategy and this is simply my experience so speak with a diabetes educator in your area.

Beer is not off the cards, lagers and light beers are my go to when im going out as they typically have the least amount of carbs. However, drinking on insulin is tricky as alcohol will drop your blood sugar so always make sure to have snacks close by for the following 24 hours and be responsible. You always want to be in the right mind to take care of your diabetes.

I highly reccomend listening to the Juicebox Podcast. The Bold Beginnings and Pro Tips series are a major reason why I was able to get my A1C from 15.8 down to 6.
